I guess you wont hear many threads by me for a while...:)
We both know that is not true. But this might finally stop people from making dumb threads. |
Re: new thread probation
How about implementing a system where a Mod can approve the start of the tread before it posts instead of assuming that every single user will be able to follow this direction. It would be easier if a handful of people patrolled the masses, not to mention Mods have a better idea of what has already been (and will be) posted.

then the mods would get like tons of messages then they would have to read every single one and the aprrove or disapprove them. I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy |
Re: new thread probation
Well, I am the first one who was begging for something like this.... but I hope that people get warnings ... not just in the threads, but in PM's.... Would hate to be kicked off of here... I just love everyone on here so much... I mean... your like family to me... I just love everyone....:vomit:
OK... maybe that was to much to shovel... but I do hope warnings are given. |
Re: new thread probation
Again, posting new threads is a privilege, one that will be taken away if you can't follow the two simple guidelines outlined above. This "new thread probation" as I call it has actually been in place for a while, I just thought it was time to make everyone aware of the possible consequences of repeatedly posting duplicate or worthless threads.
Is probation a warning or a suspension of privileges or both? |

you lose the ability to create new threads |

I'm just clarifying here. Is this probation something that will eventually allow you to post new threads again if you shape up? I'm just thinking people would want to know that there is some kind of warning system or whatever. |

Probably not. |
Re: new thread probation
Hey Matty I don't think I am asking the right question. Do the Mods let say some new eager person know that they are skating on thin ice before they get a very important privilege revoked for good?

It depends. We'll look at all situations on their own. I'm not saying anyone who posts a duplicate or questionable thread is going to get dinged. We typically try to give everyone a chance to straighten out. |
Re: new thread probation
Got it. I was just kind of concerned about new people who want to contribute, but just don't quite get it and are maybe a little to eager to make a new thread which ends up being a weak thread. Not worried of course about the ones who are just plain out of control.

Re: new thread probation
what is the best way to check and make sure a thread hasnt been already posted on the same topic without having to manually search?

If that's too taxing try this http://www.redskinswarpath.com/search.php |
Re: new thread probation
Ok I got it, in that case I wouldn't call it a duplicate. I mean it is, but that's not the problem I'm trying to address here.
Matty, maybe you should take just a moment to give a few examples of just what is considered a "worthless thread" It has become apearent that the people who post these type threads don't know the difference. I think one previous poster gave some examples of the type threads you're refering too, but they would be better served hearing it from you. |
