Wilson had a semi-serious neck injury last December. That could be reason for the Broncos to want to deal him. I'm glad we passed him up.

I read that this morning. How can you turn that down. Al Wilson, 1st, 3rd and possibly 2nd for our #6. WOW! I dont think there would be another trade situation where we could get 3 picks like that. It may have been our 3rd to begin with (duckett deal) which would have been a high 3rd. Plus Wilson.

This is the problem with Gibbs and Williams in charge of picking and choosing players. GW has suck a hard on for Fletcher, that they nix that deal. I GM may have looked at it a little longer and harder. If that is in fact the deal, that has to be hard to turn down.

It's obvious a deal with the Broncos is very likely to happen. Sounds like we're holding out for Bly. Wilson is a good player but Fletcher was a better fit.

Check my post in the other thread on 'What is Available at 21 and 42' (even though the pick is 56). According to the Draft Value Chart the Redskins would be CRAZY to take ANYTHING LESS than the Broncos first three picks (including our 3rd rounder back) and Dre Bly. If they don't get a second round pick in the deal then you are valuing Bly (or Wilson in the above mentioned trade) as basically the 38th overall pick. I mean, maybe that works, but what did the Broncos give up to get him? Tatum Bell, some other guy, and a 5th. Would anyone have given them the 38th overall pick for that package or is that more like a high third round value? I don't know, but I'd hold out for the first three picks and Bly. The Skins are probably going to have to move one of those other first day picks to move up from 21 and get Okoye (if that is who they really want), he is probably more like a 12-16 kind of player.
Arch and Rodgers are in the same boat in my book, its just nobody pointed out all of rodgers mistakes cause he is young and arch had a big pay day last year. but rodgers is in the same boat as arch if you ask me.
It's funny you are ready to throw Rogers over the side. Are you one of those that think that Dockery leaving is the end of the world as well. Well let me tell you just a season a go Dockery was ready to be throw under the bus for so so play. One year later we get a big pay day and is the one of the best guardm in the league. Who kowns Rogers a year or so may be the best as well!

yeah, fletcher's stats are astonishing... and not only can he shed blocks and make tackles (he avgs like 140+ over the last 5 years... amazing) but he plays the pass great too...

I think he's more of what we need than al wilson, and he's probably cheaper if wilson would want a new deal... not to mention the picks... we need a solid corner and bly would fit our needs better...

Yeah, pete, but if he waits until his contract year to decide to play then F 'em, which is how I felt about dock all of last year...

I'll tell you who we should get at MLB - Jeremiah Trotter. Who cares if he doesn't play the exact style of defense we do - he's awesome, and will adapt his game. [/2003]

Style of play and familiarity with the system are huge. I'm not familiar enough with Wilson's game to say he doesn't fit, but Fletcher does. Besides, looking at the stats, Wilson's play dropped off after week ten last year. I don't know the reason, but the Broncos were in contention, and they fell out. Wilson didn't come up big when needed.

Rogers was drafted in 05 so this should be a break out season. He played hurt most of last season and that didn't help. I can remember when Samuels looked so so! But he came around. Let's face it the D was bad all year long and Rogers wasn't the only guy not doing his job.

The neck inj probably had something to do with that

Definitely. I haven't looked at historical stats, but my gut feeling is that CBs need a couple years to adjust to the NFL. There aren't many that come out and dominate from the very beginning. If Rogers has the talent he was drafted for, then he is due for a breakout season.

Sanders, Bailey, Hall, and others have done quite well in their rookie seasons. Granted, those guys are among the best corners in the league, but the 9th overall pick should produce an immediate impact. I haven't give up on Rogers by any means, but I'm losing faith fast.

Well, on the upside, at least he doesn't go shoot people at strip clubs a la another illustrious cornerback taken in the Top 10 that year. Actually, none of those guys (Pac Man, Antrel Rolle, or Rogers) has done a whole lot to distinguish themselves. I guess Pac Man is the best, but his off-field stuff really hurts him. Wouldn't it be nice to have Shawn Merriman (12th pick that year I think) instead of Carlos? I guess you could say he is better suited for the 3-4, but I wouldn't mind to see him coming off the edge in a Skins uni.
