Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
well i dont agree at all,and you didnt address my hall question, which i guess says ,no,you didnt expect hall to make it either, and yes frost did have a decent night punting, but he had yet another shank, and sometimes he has 2 a game, and it just depends on how much time is left and where we are on the field when he does do his shank on how bad it affects us and is talked about.Tonight his shank came early and was forgot about, and I'm not blaming this loss on hall or frost, the blame can go to a lot of places, the thread was kicking game let us down once again, which it did,not cost us the game
why dont you take a poll: are you happy with our kickers or should we have spent some of our free agent money or draft on upgrading those positions
I already said my peace about Hall. The game shouldn't have come down to him having to hit a 48 yarder to tie. Sorry I still fail to see your point on Frost. He hit 4 quality punts out of 5. His performance didn't have an impact on the final score. |
Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
not only can Hall NOT kick anything outside of 30 yards, he has a big fat beer gut I got tired of seeing flop around everytime he'd trot out on the field.
He's a joke and has been for a few years now, should have picked up Vinattari... |
Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
Frost had one bad punt tonight. Let's lay off him he wasn't a problem.
Hall hit 3 of 4 and missed a long one at the end. I'm not ready to cut him over that. The game shouldn't have come down to him having to hit a 48 yarder.
Matty, I completely disagree with your last statement. When the offense busts its ass (with no time outs) to get you into FG range, your kicker has got to make that kick. It wasn't as though we were asking him to make a 57 yarder. He had the range in pre-game warm ups to make 52. He's got to make that kick. |
Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
yeah the kicking game needs attention, but we lost due to not stopping them on 3rd downs!!!! 3rd down conversions killed us!!!! they were 9-17 on 3rd downs and it seemed they were better then 53% even though hall missed it you cant really blame him solely. blame the D if you want to say someone let us down.

Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
The defense was a bigger letdown than Hall missing that kick.
We gave up way too many 3rd down conversions. The game shouldn't have been that close. We also needed to come away with another TD when we got in the redzone. A 48 yarder isn't exactly a chip shot, and the Vikings got pressure too which caused Hall to rush it a bit. |
Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
The late hit on Sean Taylor was BS. The facemask penalty was correctly called.
What stood out to me tonight was how the secondary got shredded. I've wondered for a long time about Carlos Rogers. Maybe he still needs to mature as a player, but he had a rough night. So did Wright. So did Rumph. So did Archuleta. Pass defense is going to be a serious problem until Springs gets back. Add this to the fact that there was STILL no consistent pass rush outside of Demetric Evans, and you've got quite a dilemma on defense. I was surprised at how conservative Gregg Williams was tonight. Not many blitzes -- for the most of the game, he had everybody sit back and stay in their zones, only to get picked apart. Andre Carter was non-existant, (as I feared he would be) and Daniels got banged up. So far, I've seen nothing to indicate that these two defensive ends are anything special. Bottom line ... I shudder to think what Owens, Glenn and Witten will do to this secondary next Sunday night. |
Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
Arent you guys worried we cant score more than 20 pts in a game? How many times last season did we, not too many.Giving up 19 pts isnt that bad considering how bad the defense played. We cant win without scoring TDs too many field goals.

Take away Springs and of course GW can't be as aggressive. The Cowboys don't have that kind of an offensive line. It will be a different story next week. |
Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
The D was bad but the O was as bad. You can't win many games going 4-12 in third downs while the Vikings were 8-16. Our O line has some holes and back ups are thin at best. If you can't run it is hard to pass.

A NFL Kicker needs to make a 47 yard feild goal 4 times out of 5, and he has missed enough feild goals for me to see him go tommraow. He's got more job security than the freaking president right now. I dont want an NFL kicker that can make 24 yarders all day long, because you can find a good division three soccer player to do that, we need someone who can win games for us. Theres a reason Mark Mosley was the MVP; and thats because he was the difference in alot of games. Hall has had the chance to be the difference in alot of games just going through last year....TB1, SD, SEA playoff game, Tonight...the guy has to come through once in a while, and since the 2003 season, he hasent. |

Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
Ok so let's cut Hall tomorrow after going 3 of 4.
Who do we bring in? Please don't say Novak. |
The Vikings have assembled a good line, no question. But Andre Carter was brought here to answer that. Springs being out only makes it more vital that there be more pressure from the front four. |
