Re: Tom Jackson hates the Redskins
i agree with daseal, what is he supposed to say? We sucked and he said it. I think that is what he does for a living, seems easy. I was thinking the same thing as daseal, if this was dallas we would be agree with him.
I do think he should have spoken about our defense though. They played fantastic and that is lost among all this portis and offensive talk. I have real high hopes for them. Andre Carter is a team changer. He makes the entire play easier for every person on the team. The line is where it starts and if he can get through or take out 2 players from the line who will gaurd him, he is allowing us to get sacks which will lead to INTs and disruption. Andre Carter is the biggest season upgrade of the players. |

They didn't need him because they received a 3rd and 4th round pick for Brandon Lloyd... |
Re: Tom Jackson hates the Redskins
99% of espn hates us so im not suprised. one reason i dont really watch espn anymore is the ignorance the network as a whole shows, obvious bias in basketball and football to certain teams and players. thats what we have local news for, to be biased to the team. hell, even comcast is more objective than espn and that is sad

Re: Tom Jackson hates the Redskins
So after one week of the preseason he should say no team was a disappointment and it was just preseason? People want to hear speculation, if this was something he said about Dallas we'd be gloating. Lets stop with the double standard. We played poorly, thus people will say we played poorly. Yes, it is preseason, but it still happened and we're being judged against other teams in preseason.
Exactly! What was he supposed to dodge the question? You wanna know who disappointed in week 1? It was the Skins. The first team offense looked bad. Brunell looked bad. Does that mean that this team will be bad in the regular season? No. But I was disappointed in the way they played. That doesn't mean they're not a playoff contender, but they better start playing better than that offensively or they will be a disappointment this season. I certainly think they will get better. But so far, the O looked bad. They asked about preseason disappointments. The Redskins are right up there after one game. Pretty much everyone has only played one game and that means that he had to a make a snap judgement about someone, just so happens it was the Skins. Fairplay considering how poorly the O played. However, I do agree, the D was absolutely disgusting. |
Re: Tom Jackson hates the Redskins
Better to hear him say he was disappointed in us after yesterday than to say "well, it's what I figured would happen"

That's exactly what he should've said....for any team. You can't make a proper judgement on a team in preseason...it's irresponsible. |

Exactly skinsguy, this is preseason and nobody except the coaches & players knows exactly what is trying to be tested and analyzed in each preseason game. Also who knows how much of the offense is be showcased. Gibbs is well known to show almost nothing offensively in preseason so to say the offense is a disappointment is a stretch. |
Re: Tom Jackson hates the Redskins
He was asked to make a judgement based on what he saw from the preseason. It's the start of football and America is fiending for some sort of football to be talked about and highlights shown. I guarantee you if the answer to every question was "It's preseason, why rate/judge/watch" then you and everyone else would turn off that TV quick. Try to take the colored glasses off and look as a football fan.

Re: Tom Jackson hates the Redskins
The point of this thread was to point out the over the top comments of Jackson.
I think we're all well aware that it's his job to provide his opinions, but his comments are a bit harsh considering the circumstances. Snyder's investments haven't panned out? Same offense from last year? Those opinions were made based on 2 series from the starting offense, after the first preseason game. I'm sorry but that's a little ridiculous. As a football fan I want to hear meaningful and insightful commentary, not irrational judgements. |
