Re: Chris Cooley Released
Lol, well might as well. People have been clamoring for various players to be moved around to different positions for years. Laron to LB, Hall to FS, Paul to TE, Alexander to everything. Why stop now?
Sav Rocca, longsnapper. Alexander can punt. |
Re: Chris Cooley Released
Couldn't tell which announcer said we'll talk to Cooley this week but I'd be for it. He's still faster than Paulsen and rumbles down the field after contact just as well. Paul may not be ready for reg season action at TE either. However, who gets the boot if they re-sign Cooley? We have a pretty solid roster and don't want to lose the talent already there...

Re: Chris Cooley Released
We need a back up DB now along with a long snapper. I love Cooley, but I am not sure we really need him anymore. Davis was fine, and Paulson came up big, even if it was just one catch.

Both of those guys are not going to be taking a Roster spot, that isn't being vacated by the injured player. IMO they can find an extra roster spot at QB3 ;) |
Re: Chris Cooley Released
Cut Rex. Re-sign Crompton to PS..roster problems solved.
If Crompton is no longer eligible, just find someone who is. |
Re: Chris Cooley Released
***Just heard a rumor that Grossman is to be cut and Cooley to be re-signed.***
At this point, it's just a rumor. Can not verify. |

At this point, it's just a rumor. Can not verify.
Its a good move. Cooley could play QB in a pinch if RGIII and Cousins went down (i'm just saying, he's Chris effing Cooley). its not like Grossman is going to get any interest on the open market. If RGIII and Cousins were going to miss games, i'm sure we could just pick him right back up. |

Re: Chris Cooley Released
Yes, he was inactive. I think that said Cousins has the confidence with the coaches that he'd be ready to step in. From what we saw in the preseason, Rex had one diaster of a game and one decent game. Cousins was consistently better than him.
This makes Rex expendable and his role of "veteran mentor" unnecessary. We can clearly see that Griffin needs no tutoring from him. Also, if Griffin DOES get hurt, Cousins is more mobile than Grossman and there would be less of a change in schemes that could be run. I hope this rumor is true. Right now, we have a backfield of Morris/Helu/Royster and Banks sporadically as a gadget play at HB with only Young at FB. Having Cooley available for FB would be valuable. |
Re: Chris Cooley Released
If you bring Cooley back... cut Banks.
In other Cooley news it came out that he and Christy filed for divorce in late August and had been separated since January. Apparently it was an amicable part without the need for the court system. |

At this point, it's just a rumor. Can not verify.
They should have made that move a long time ago, who cares about a veteran QB that is basically bad. I rather go with a rookie like Cousins, he will make rookie mistakes, Grossman is a 10 year veteran still making rookie mistakes. |
Cooley was loved by many

Maybe Cooley wants (needs?) to get away from home for a while

I'm just saying maybe being close to home is not what would help him. Maybe a fresh start and a total recommitment to just at least trying to become the player he once was would benefit him. You could apply it to any player in this situation really, this isn't exclusively about Cooley
..and just like that, all these statements clicked at once. You knew this whole time didn't you?..lol Hearing from insiders on ES that a big reason to his downfall is because he partied hard when he should have been rehabbing. His partying evidently led to him being promiscuous and hence his divorce. Ditto. Grossman appears to be a waste of a roster spot now. Cousins appears to be the backup, in which case Rex should never see the field again as a Skin. Try to trade him (yeah right lol), so just cut him loose and bring in someone who will/could actually contribute. |

So many athlete and celebrity marriages end this way. |
