Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
I think the next move at QB needs to come via the draft. I'd would grab someone in the mid rounds. Max Duggan would be a perfect pick.

Brissett it is.
Hell yeah, add a mid-round pick at QB and let's roll!! |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Brissett Browns highlights. Will not be surprised at all if he ends up starting Week 1. He finished 8th in QBR last year.
This is a MASSIVE update to our roster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a77SGv0OSs8 [YT]a77SGv0OSs8[/YT] |
Additional details on the deal. Brissett is a massive upgrade over TH:
@JFowlerESPN The Washington #Commanders are signing QB Jacoby Brissett to a one-year deal worth up to $10 million and $8 million guaranteed, per source. Washington gets a starting option for a quarterback who played well for Cleveland last year.
This is good. Like you said an upgrade at QB for same price as TH is getting |

Question can you explain why you think this is an upgrade? |

How is this an upgrade? Heinicke had slightly better stats over the last two years, played a harder schedule and had a lot more success in the win/loss column. Additionally, they cost about the same when it comes to a contract. I just don't get the idea that Brisset is an upgrade. At best I see it as a wash (Heinicke's stats were only very slightly better) and that is at best, it's more likely a down grade. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
I watched brisket all year. My best friend is a die hard browns fan. Not impressed one bit and he is currently dogging the move and I agree. We joke around about the browns and skins being "mirrors" and a hell of a lot of times that ahit rings true. On a play to play basis on Sundays or just in general. It's fuckin eerie how accurate it can be.
Brisket would have lost to TH on new years day I'd bet serious money on that. He may have a few better traits like arm strength or whatever else... but the guy wasn't a winner, displayed poor decision making A SHIT TON and doesn't have "it". IMO the guys a bum and if he's our starter? Good luck. Ron and Co. Are inept enough to consider this guy an option but I wouldn't think EB (if he had any say in it) would be. Not a lot to choose from, sure, but an upgrade and potential starter? Please save it. I watched this bum week in and week out. Nothing to see here at all. For the love of God Howell, please show up. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Brissett is a good backup but he isn’t the future.
Howell or a Rookie needs to start. Even if they shit the bed they get valuable playing time and we have better draft position next year. Brissett starting is the worst case scenario here. 8-9 wins seasons are the enemy at this point. |

Their td and int were the same. To me it is about QBR Jacoby was a solid 60 which was 8th best in league. Taylor was a woeful 44.8. I am not saying this is a send us to playoffs move but the cost versus production is worth it. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Heinicke had a 44.4 QBR last year. Brissett was miles ahead of him at 60.00.
Brissett was 8th overall, Heinicke would have been 25th if included in this list. https://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr Overall rating, Heinicke was slightly ahead at 89.6 versus 88.9. Not to mention, Brissett has a way better arm. I'd take Brissett over Heinicke every day, and twice on Monday's, Thursday's, and Sunday's. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Justify with all the stats you want. Ask browns fans how they feel. Good effort, just not a good quarterback, not a playmaker, couldn't really win games
Guy was 4-7 before he got hurt. It's a team game, sure, and the browns had enough talent to be just that. Hope he proves to be a good backup and nothing more..... Cuz if he is starting we're screwed |

Heinicke has a higher passer RTG (So everyone but ESPN would rank him higher). QBR is strictly an ESPN formula that some have criticized. Weird thing you'd think is QBR would be reflected directly with won/loss record as it is tied to points, importance of plays etc. Yet Heinicke had a much higher win/loss rate. Given that one would think Brisset would have a lower QBR. |

I think by the eye test he is a better QB. But to say he is a massive upgrade? No way. Not buying that. |
