I just want to find out now if he could possibly be ready to go, we'll still ride Theo and personally it would be a wonderful story if we won the cup with him but at the same time he makes me uneasy. I know not every team has amazing goaltending and even with Brodeaur you can't count on your team to not give up more then 3 goals in a given game but Varly's performance earlier in the season was to good to not at least attempt to recapture the magic when you have little to play for.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Varly come in for a few games here late in the season. However, even if he is playing well, I think we still need to ride Theo as far as we can in the playoffs.

I would however love to see Varly go on a tear!

They look a lot better tonight. Looks like someone lit them up in the locker room.

Pens game coming up

4-2 Caps with a few minutes to go in the 2nd and the Pens just got completely robbed of a goal because the ref blew the whistle too early. I love it!!! That almost makes up for the huge power play advantage they've had this whole season.

Theodore has played much more consistently than Varly this season.

So yes, I'm supporting theo. Give him the start come playoff time.

Thats the dumbest thing I've ever read. Theo is the most consistant and experienced goalie that the Caps have. Hate to break it to you but Varly isn't quite ready to be the franchise goalie yet. Sure, he makes remarkable saves, but then he lets in the easy ones. With Theo you know what you're going to get most nights. Varly, I'm sorry to say, you don't know how he is going to play.

I like Varly, and one day he'll be our guy, but right now he's not.

I'm just curious, why do you not like Theo?

Right now I'm backing Theo to lead us into the playoffs.

Yeah it's all Theo. People bring up how good Varly was early in the season before he got injured but that was a long time ago, and he hasn't been able to reach that level since he got back from his injury. Theo's gotta be our guy for the playoffs just because he's been consistent.

Ovechkin takes scoring, points leads

WASHINGTON -- Alex Ovechkin has joined Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy as the only players to reach at least 50 goals in four of their first five NHL seasons.

Ovechkin entered the Washington Capitals' game against the Atlanta Thrashers on Friday night with 48 goals, one behind league leader Sidney Crosby of Pittsburgh. But Ovechkin pulled even with Crosby with a goal in the second period, then got No. 50 in the third to pull ahead.

Ovechkin also had a first-period assist, helping him take over the league lead in points, too.

The Russian left wing's career high for goals in a season is 65, in 2007-08.

Washington has one more regular-season game, Sunday against Boston.

Awesome game tonight. We played well in pretty much every aspect of the game.

So nice to see them actually on TV rather then watching in hit or miss internet quality.

I just did my best GTripp impression and found that had Ovechkin played in every game this year he would have had around 57 goals and 126 points. Crosby is most likely going to end up with 50 according to the math. Then again he is playing the Thrashers.
