Look at this year, did you think the Jags or Vikings with no Bradford would make it? Nobody even thought the Jags would have a winning record. |

Case in point was the first 3 quarters against the Redskins this year. Comparing a process-oriented, read the field QB like Cousins to an improviser like Wilson is difficult. That said, both are the best players on their respective offenses. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Once Wilson loses a step his game will fall apart. He’s not a guy that’s going to drop back and consistently beat you from the pocket. His game is all about off schedule plays.

Sounds delicious. Among many things my wife made lightly cooked oysters with marinated tofu Japanese style, that was surprisingly awesome. We usually have oysters simply served fresh or with a tiny bit of lemon, but that was delicious. Also a turkey stuffed with minced veal meat mixed with foie gras. I'm still digesting it but that was great! |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Is there any scenario where the Skins could get top compensation for Cousins? I would hate to think that we lose Cousins and get nothing at all.

We could do another tag and try to trade him, but let's be honest nobody is giving up top dollar for a good qb they know will most likely test the market. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
This Kirk Cousins fiasco needs to end.....I can't believe we are headed into the 3rd straight off-season talking about Cousins.....this is a reflection on the team's brass, namely that fool Bruce Allen....if A.J. Smith or Joe Gibbs we're the team president Cousins would have signed a long term deal after the 2015 NFL season.

Look at Carolina a year ago. They went from SB to 6-10. Also I never said I was betting on Gruden or Cousins. I'm not the biggest fan of Gruden at all and Cousins should only be resigned at the right price. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Can we sign him to new contract on Monday? That would be good way to go into 2018. When is the DL to apply franchise tag? Having hard time location it.
I know once applied, teams have until mid July to try to finalize an actual contract. |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I'm calling it, 300 yards and 5 touchdowns for Kirk today. He just wants to remind us what a real qb looks like before he walks out the door and leaves us with Osweiler or some other junker.

Wow he was awful today. 3 ints. No tds. That's not good.

He never was as good as his numbers would make you think he is, at crucial times he always laid an egg. Some Qbs are better than they look on paper, some are worse, Kirk is the later. If he can be had for what a little better than average QB can be had for take him, if not send him packing. |

I agree with this statement. Kirk is just slightly better than the average Qb in this league. If we give him top tier money, I think we sell ourselves short in talent elsewhere. |

Yes, he's good as gone:( Thanks for the memories Kirk.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Kirk Cousins against nfc east: 1-5, 9 TDs, 9 INTs, 4 FL, 79.4 rating. Clutch!
Edit: Those 5 games are they difference between winning the nfc east and being 7-9. I know he isn't all till blame for the record this year, but his performance in these all important divisional games is telling debatably. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
your right it isn't all his fault but he is the one wanting a huge payday. Not worth anywhere near top dollar
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Judge him on his resume here, not his last game. If you’re ready to move on and think we don’t need a QB that routinely puts up 4000 yards and 30 TDs so be it.
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
We have lucky pick#13 and there are at least 4-5 teams ahead of us that need a QB, the wise choice is to resign Cousins.

That is good logic if we can get him for a reasonable price (even 26 a year would be reasonable now). But then we need to take Barkley or Guice in the first and sign the best free agent WR we can find. |

There are probably 4 or 5 1st round QBs......teams are not going to pass on players like Barkley to pick a QB.... should be a decent QB left at #13 |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
This is 2016 all over again. Kirk leaves you with just enough justification to move on, but still puts enough doubt in your mind of finding someone else just as good. This season has at least proved that Kirk, alone, can get you around 7 or 8 wins, and with healthy weapons, he can probably get you 10 wins. But a, put the team on my back and I'll take them to the playoffs quarterback? Probably not your guy. Hard to win with third stringers on offense, but still, he is a solid quarterback. With Gruden set in stone to be back in 2018, I need one more year, a healthy year, the final make it or break it year, before I'm finally ok with moving on.

A decent college QB who may or may not be an NFL starter. Wow, we all have such short memories and high standards for QBs now.
Kirk has broken how many franchise records? |

Agree!!!!! |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
After watching him so closely over the past seasons while he has been our starter, I have came to a few conclusions that may or not be agreed on with other posters here.
I do not think Kirk is in "elite" status like Brady or Brees, etc., but I think that he is VERY GOOD, and easily a top 10 NFL QB. My impression of him is that he is a very, very high level game manager. I think he needs to have an above average team around him for him to win a super bowl. That being said, Kirk wins a lot of games in the NFL. I am kind of shocked at seeing so many posts on other boards (Not really here) where they can't wait for someone else to come in at QB. And I'm like, really? We might be walking away from a guy who routinely puts up 30 TD's and is among the best in passing yards, etc.. Kirk is easily the best QB that we've had here IMO since Brad Johnson, and while we are the team that is known for making stupid moves, letting Cousins go has to be the all time stupidest. |
