Re: 2012 redskins
I've said this many times before and I'll probably be repeating this many times again;
You hit on the right QB and suddenly all those holes disappear on both Offense and Defense. |
Re: 2012 redskins
They do disappear. That's why I say go get RGIII. In my opinion Tannehill/Foles/Weeden/Cousins/Wilson will all be average to below average.

I mean, sometimes, you trade up for a combine riser and get Jay Cutler or Joe Flacco, other times you get Alex Smith or Mark Sanchez. It's a known risk level with Tannehill/Foles/Weeden/Cousins et al. |
Where is DeAngelo Hall at contract wise?
Anyone?
He's got two years left plus a dummy year in 2014. Hall at this point is year-to-year contractually. It's as cheap to cut him now as he's ever going to be because almost all of the remaining money in his contract is in non-guaranteed salary. In other words, if you wanted to sign Stanford Routt or Brandon Carr, you could do so under the cap for less money than it would take to keep Hall on the roster. |

You can thank the uncapped year for Hall's cap-friendly contract. They basically shoved all his bonus money into the uncapped year, so all that remains is salary. And thus I think it's time for Hall to go. Maybe bring him back for less via a restructured deal, but from what I can tell that's not Hall's style. I see no reason to bring him back for $6M when we can cut him for nothing. Josh Wilson's 1st year cap hit was $3.4M, so there's a ballpark of what bringing a new guy might cost us against the cap. |

They did. TW has very little bonus left in his contract ($1.8M). The bulk of it is salary and roster bonuses. His cap hit for 2012 is $12.6M, but $11M of it is salary. |

agree, Routt got the big deal and played like sh*t last year. I wouldnt bring him for starters money. |
Re: 2012 redskins
I agree with Joe Theismann. We don't need Peyton Manning. At most, he'll play for 3 years. We need to draft a quarterback who is a long term solution. Part of the reason why this team has finished 5-11, 9-7, 8-8, 4-12, 6-10, and 5-11 the last six seasons is inconsistent play at the quarterback position. This is more the reason to trade up and draft Robert Griffin III

Carr is pretty good, I'd jump all over him if the Chiefs dont sign him or tag him. It's gonna be hard for them to cover both Carr & Bowe. The redskins could use either. |

True they do have a fair amount of cap space however, the Chiefs are not a large market team and may not want to spend the amount needed to keep both players. |
Re: 2012 redskins
The Redskins are very much set on defense. We finished 13th in 2011 after finishing 31st in 2010. With the addition of Jarvis Jenkins, and maybe a reshaped secondary, maybe the Redskins can finish in the top 5 in defense in 2012.
While the defense will do its part in 2012, the key to winning games comes down to the offense. They have to put up more points. 18.4 points a game is very poor. If the Redskins were scoring 23 or even 21 points a game, I would applaud their effort. But 18.4 points a game is extremely mediocre. We have to score more points even in a losing effort in 2012. |
Well, it's a bit early, but I think we've seen enough... so, who are the skins we expect back on the roster next year? Here's what I've got:

Honestly, we'd be better to grab a couple FA OL guys like Grubbs, Harris, or whoever because whether we plug in a vet QB or RGiii - that line has to be effective right away. Can't do that with an NFL learning curve. And BTW - there are 600 FA's this year, most are unrestricted. I'm confident we will solidify the OL before the draft. |
Re: 2012 redskins
Wanted to see what this roster would look like on paper. Pretty good to me pre-cut to 53.
QB: Peyton Manning, Kellen Moore HB: Helu, Hightower, Royster, James FB: Young WR: Hankerson, Criner, Jackson, AA, Paul, Moss, Robinson, Gaffney, Austin TE: Davis, Paulsen, Cooley LT: T Williams, Smith LG: C Nicks, Hurt C: Lichtensteiger, Ben Jones RG: Chester RT: Gaither, Polumbus LDE: Bowen, Balmer RDE: Cofield, Jenkins NT: Soliai, Neild OLB: Alexander, Kerrigan, Orakpo, Fox, Jackson, White MLB: Fletcher, Riley, CB: Carr, Wilson, Hall, Westbrook, Wilson, Barnes SS: Landry, Gomes FS : Otogwe, Griffin K: Gano P: Rocca KR/PR: L. We need to improve our pass defence. Raheem Morris is a start. Getting rid of D Hall would also help. I just don't trust the guy to deliver when it matters.

I thought the Skins had better team work. I mean who takes their OL coach and makes him the DC? Their whole DL looked like crap all year. "9-Wide" lol. and with out fixing that situation I don't see them doing any better. If I was Reid I'd move him back to OL where he had that team playing well and I'd go out and get a DC. |
