Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
We tried Thomas a few times putting him in the backfield on 4th and short and as wildcat, I dont think they were that successful. Bates out of back field is a no for me.
Wentz is really good at QB sneaks. |
I'd say yes too but really what they need is a big bruiser...Gibson/JD/Patterson all similar traits which are good...but how great would a big guy be that was solid at the 3rd and 1 carries...and could line up in a FB role as well...if there is such a thing in this offense.
Yeah I’d like a little more power myself. Gibson is good, but the fumbling and some of the shots he takes…me thinks 1-2 punch would help. JD is just a baller but he’s that passing/3rd down back…not meant to carry a load of Gibson would miss time. |
Iowa State RB Breece Hall visited Washington earlier this week; has good speed (4.39) and vision.
Michigan State RB Kenneth Walker III coming in later this week as well, it's clear as has been stated this offseason that adding an RB is definitely possible. with 17 games, important to have quality depth and a strong 1-2 punch as well. — #PSU S Jaquan Brisker is with the Commanders tomorrow and Friday. twitter.com/RapSheet/stat Getting more RB help is a must
Breece and Walker are both excellent backs. Breece checks all the boxes for size, speed, quickness, power, and production. He would complete our backfield. Also, as someone who has little confidence in Wentz, I think we had better have a very good running game. |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
ESPN's Jordan Reid did a 7-round mock for all the teams. Here's what he has for us:
1st Rd: Drake London, WR, USC 2nd Rd: Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina 4th Rd: Coby Bryant, CB, Cincinnati 6th Rd: Braxton Jones, OT, Southern Utah 7th Rd: Derrick Deese Jr., TE, San Jose State 7th Rd: Jason Poe, IOL, Mercer |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Chicago will send the No. 20 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, a 2021 fifth-round pick (No. 164 overall) and a first-round pick and fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
Giants trade: Pick 11 Bears trade: Pick 20, 164, 2022 first-round pick and 2022 fourth-round pick. https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2021/04/29/new-york-giants-acquire-2022-first-round-pick-trade-down-chciago-bears/ The Bears 2022 pick ended up being the no. 7 overall pick. NYG have the no. 5 and no. 7 overall picks. ---- Eagles have picks no. 15 and no. 18 this year, plus Saints 2023 1st rounder, Saints 2024 second rounder -------------- Bit jealous of all that 1st round draft capital in our division. Plus both could trade down or out and stock even more. |

Spiller can do it all. He would be a good choice. |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
So they have hosted private visits with the top 3 RBs in this draft. You definitely can't get either of these guys in round 4...
Are they going to try to add a third round pick, or are they targeting one of these RBs in round 2? |

We are not desperate for a new RB, but if we're looking at one of them being BPA when we pick, then best to assess them fully than take a chance. Plus it could be sounding out value for our pick too. If someone who need RB comes a calling, can't hurt to be aware of the value of the available guys when it comes to pick value. |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Down to the 2-week warning. Wanted to do a draft where the safety was 1st pick. Hamilton wasn't available. I think Hill will be good too.
11: R1 P11 - S Daxton Hill - Michigan 47: R2 P15 - WR Christian Watson - North Dakota State 113: R4 P8 - LB Damone Clark - LSU 189: R6 P10 - OT Spencer Burford - UTSA 230: R7 P9 - G Cole Schneider - Central Florida 240: R7 P19 - TE Daniel Bellinger - San Diego State |

Interesting article about the timing of the draft vs. start of free agency.

Watson has everything you would want in a WR. He can definitely play outside and become a solid #2. Damone Clark is a sleeper. Bellinger is a steal in round 7. |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Seems like Hamilton right now is the trendy pick at 11 for us. What does everyone think about that possibility? It's a deep WR draft, should be plenty of options in round 2 if we went Hamilton in the 1st.

I will be pumped if we get him. Would be nice to have someone that can be a gamechanger at safety. |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Kyle Hamilton has become one of the more polarizing prospects in this year’s draft class. Seen as a prime candidate to fall down the board, the former Notre Dame safety has been the source of speculation regarding his ultimate landing spot in the first round. Today, he is meeting with the Commanders, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport (Twitter link).
Hamilton had a highly productive three-year career with the Fighting Irish. He totalled 138 tackles and eight interceptions, demonstrating positional flexibility and leadership qualities along the way. His testing numbers, season-ending knee injury and overall athletic profile, however, have led to a belief he could drop to at least the second half of the first round. He has visited the Lions, though there is currently no expectation he would be considered with the No. 2 pick. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2022/04/commanders-hosting-kyle-hamilton |
