I'm not as high on Martin as I am with DeCastro.
I love DeCastro!! He's a stud, one of the best G to come out in long time. Martin is also an excellent T, as good as Kalil in my opinion. Stanford's OL controlled the running game and passing game against an excellent OKS team, those guys are hogs. |
Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........
Don't agree with him being as good as Kalil, Kalil is a once every 5 years kind of tackle, Martins a Russell Okung (Hey remember him!) clone. Levy Adock from OKSU looked like a NFL RT in my opinion..should be someone to consider.

It boggles my mind that so many mock drafts have us picking Trent Richardson at #6. it's like these guys are just pulling names out of the hat.

I know. Ridiculous. Draft a RB that high when he can push you over the top. Skins have way too many other needs. RBs have a short shelf life. The Bengals want him though, so we should deal the pick to them if we can't get RGIII at 6 or we address QB in free agency or via trade. Especially if we can grab a #1 WR in free agency. |
Knowing how the NFL works, Mike Shanahan is no doubt aware that he will likely be fired if the Redskins do not improve significantly in the win column next season. Now he faces the dilemma of the Coach/GM. As GM, he's building a team but he's not in a position where he can start a rookie QB because, as HC, he'll be fired if he has a poor season in 2012.
Basically, he messed up by not drafting his Franchise QB candidate before now. Now, the answer is probably going to be acquiring a good young QB with NFL experience or a stopgap veteran, either through FA or trade. Shanahan is definitely scrambling to get a QB. We'll see what happens next.
You bring up a great point. I never thought of it but you're right; Shannahan can't afford to draft a rookie QB and go 6 and 10 next year and expect to keep his job. So the impetus will be acquiring an experienced NFL QB (Matt Flynn). Based on this revelation I'm going to assume that Shannahan will go buck-wild in free agency this year to secure the best WR talent available (Desean Jackson/Vincent Jackson). |

well, there's also bowe, wayne, wallace, colston (i believe)... plenty of WR talent this year. and if barkley left we'd be in the perfect spot to get our QB too. things broke badly for us. oh well. |

Considering the Skins track record with hiring and unhiring coaches, there is NO way Dan can afford to let Shan go next season unless he catches him in the Dans office F...n a goat. AND then only if he has pics. Who would ever take the job? Point is this ain't gonna happen. You will see Shan fulfill his entire contract and if he does any good (and he will) he will get a new deal. |

Completely disagree. Think of his first two offseasons- the first is an uncapped year with very little available as far as free agents, and a draft that had Sam Bradford and not much else for QB's. This past offseason was a labor stoppage and a draft that had some reaches at QB in the 1st round. Sure it sucks that we have to wait until season 3 of Shanahan to get our potential franchise QB moving forward, but what good does it do to fire Shanahan if he's not a 10 win coach in his first year with his new (and likely rookie) QB? |

Developing a rookie QB buys Shanahan more time. |

There is no upside to having a rookie QB and then firing the coach. This is offseason 1A of the Shanahan regime. |

I wouldn't draft Trent Richardson inthe top 10 if I'm any team

If there's a player I would look at it in the later rounds but his stock will probably rise is: Terrance Ganaway | Baylor, RB : 2012 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile |

I disagree. I think he has to bring in a qb(s) this year for sure but I can't see Snyder treating MS like Del Rio. Most owners know that a rookie qb needs time to adapt and won't off a coach for a bad year with one unless the rookie qb plays like Ryan Leaf or well Blaine gabbert. |

Unless there is an available HC who would likely do better at developing that rookie (franchise) QB... |
