Pretty obvious now why Trump
Was soooooo desperate to stay in office and let Barr protect him. But most of us knew that. Some thought he was desperate to keep America great and protect their civil liberties! LOL

Gotta admit I never understood why most Trumpers couldn't see that the order of Trump's values was Trump first , his money 2d, family 3rd, supporters 4th, and maybe country 5th (although that could be lower).

On the personal value's level he was the Republican's Clinton and politically he was the Republican's Obama.

Sadly some still won't and refuse to see it. I will say he was way worse than either of those two.

Yes I agree, was just pointing out that Clinton was another who placed himself first and politically Trump was as bad for the Republicans as Obama was for the Dems (ie ended up handing over the House, Senate and Presidency to the other party - although I think Trump did more lasting damage to the Republicans by destroying Reagan conservatism in favor or right wing populism).

“I support Donald Trump for president. I’ve directly encouraged him to run and he gives me every indication he will,” Gaetz told the paper. “If Trump doesn’t run, I’m sure I could defeat whatever remains of Joe Biden by 2024.”

Politics in America is truly, unfixably broken.

We are being torn apart and steered by the far left and far right.

Politicians just pander to their extremes.

oh well .. was nice while it lasted.

I disagree strongly. The far left isn’t exactly calling any shots. Trump, or the party of trump, or the far right - has the Republican party right in its pocket. The democratic party has not changed. Not anymore than normal incremental change. The republican party has completely hitched its wagon to one man. One man who lost the Whitehouse, Senate, and House like he lost umpteen million businesses. Good luck with that.

Not sure I agree. We were pretty shitty back in the day. Trump just brought it back but stuff like armed men patrolling poll sites was pretty common we just expect better in 2020 so we are shocked when people still act like that 200 years later

Yep the Democratic party hasn't changed. They have championed identity policies for over 193 years and counting.

That's the point they have left well enough alone within their party. They believe laws/policies/etc should differ/be enacted/etc according to ones group/race/tribe. They believed that in 1828 and they continue to believe the same thing (and act on it) today.

Identity politics on the left and personality cults on the right. Everyone in the middle loses.
