If a kicker kicks 33 kicks and makes 29 does that mean: A) the kicker made 29 of 33 attempts B) the kicker missed 4 of 33 attempts C) damn I don't give a hoot pass me another beer D) Yo Gano! E) all of the above |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I am gonna go with E Regis, final answer.
lol!
seriously, Gano has a strong leg & could be the guy for us for years to come. I'm glad Shanny has been patient w/him. If he's missing kicks that keep us out of the playoffs that's one thing, but as this team stands now, kicker might as well be added to the list of positions the staff is developing w/young talent.
Exactly, as long as we're in a rebuilding phase with virtually no chance at a deep playoff run, might as well take our chances with the young guy, especially considering how it burned us with akers. besides, gano is awesome for me in madden... |
Washington Redskins The Redskins didn’t make the initial list, but they certainly pass the smell test. Even with the addition of third-round pick Leonard Hankerson, they could lose Santana Moss in free agency. The cupboard is very bare in Washington.
|

Too prone to defiance and "his way", imo. I don't think it is likely to fit with Shanahan. |

Wow, this is a terrible article. I would say only the Rams and Giants (since he was there) are possible destinations. With Sidney Rice as a possible Free Agent (unrestricted) and the likes of Randy Moss and Santana Moss as FAs, I don't see much of a market for Burress. |

Anyone else hearing the rumors that the Eagles are targeting Haynesworth whenever he hits the market? A motivated Haynesworth in a 4-3 could be very dangerous to the health of our QB. Heres to hoping he goes back to Tenneessee.

I seriously doubt they can trade him to anybody with his contract. I mean sure teams are off the hook for about $40 or $50 million, but $6 or $7 million a year is a lot for a guy as flaky as Haynesworth. On top of that he's likely coming in with a 4 game suspension. He has virtually 0 trade value.
6. DT Albert Haynesworth to Philadelphia The Eagles got away with trading Donovan McNabb to the Redskins. Can the Redskins do the same if they move Haynesworth within the division? Mike Shanahan can't have Haynesworth back because the Redskins run a 3-4 and Haynesworth simply doesn't fit. There are 18 4-3 teams in the league, but many can't afford Haynesworth. The Eagles can, and he would be an incredible fit along the Eagles' four-man line.
|
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
Also starting to think we should try to resign Brown, or even bring in Claboo or Trueblood before looking at Harris for the RT job. I mean sure he's younger but whats the point of bringing in a younger player if he's hurt almost half the time? Brown in spite of his injury troubles still played in 15 games this past year which is close to the 19 Harris has played in the last 2 years.
Given part of his inactivity last year came when McDaniels thought that Beadles at RT was better then a recently recovered Harris for a couple of weeks but still the bottom line is we could easily end up starting Heyer for 8 games next year with Harris. If they are smart they would trade him for a 5th, 6th, or a 7th to Denver who is in DESPERATE need of 4-3 DTs. What team wouldn't take him for a 7th rounder? |

I think Denver is more in rebuilding mode. They're not worried about putting together a team to make a serious run this year as much as they are getting young guys reps. If they were serious then I could see them possibly making an offer for Haynesworth but I highly doubt that they're thinking "man if we just had a DT we could get to the playoffs." A team on the cusp though like Philly or even New York is possibly chomping at the bit waiting for him to get released with the promise of a 4-3 gap penetration defense, championship runs, and a chance to face the Redskins twice a year. Tennessee is also a likely destination as thats where he's most comfortable. Philly though really believes they're on the verge, rightfully so, and have struggled with defense since Johnson passed away. So they could be willing to take on another talented head case since their last talented head case almost helped them win a Super Bowl. |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
Philly could go all in this year. Still I really hope they improve the D. I'm chomping at the bit to get revenge for the Monday Night beat down.

Oh...never mind then Seriously though, a former NFL scout once told me (before he was whisked away on cocaine and child pornography charges)-an ideal NFL depth chart is 1. Solid/ideally Franchise level starter 2. Veteran back-up who can step in in a pinch 3. Developmental QB to groom for the future All we have right now (assuming we don't bring back Donovan), in my opinion, is 2 who we're forcing to be 1...I don't even know what Beck is |

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I don't think were gonna get DeAngelo Williams like id really hoped because we picked up 80 rbs in the draft....
WE MUST resign Santana of course. But to be honest, id take Randy Moss or Plaxico Burress. If either could keep they're mouth shut, accept they're roll, accept how the QB/teams doing whatever they're doing, they'd be a great pickup. |
