Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Orton is definitely better than Grossman. He throws a lot less picks and is a better game manager.

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
John Beck is the only QB Shanny can discuss right now. Rex has no contract, he didn't draft a QB & he is not going to discuss any free agent QB's from other teams. I don't believe for a second that beck is the guy. He never even got a start at the end of the season when we were out of it and the team has not been on the practice field since. So theres nothing he could have done to win this new found confidence from the coaching staff. It's nonsense...we will have a new QB once free agency starts.

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
I trust that the FO has a plan, especially after the way they drafted. If that plan is Beck...then I'll ride, this season.

I would hope that they have a better plan than Beck. I mean if Beck plays lights out during the offseason, then yeah. But I hope they're not just going to hand him the keys to the offense. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
They have to have a plan B or they are resigned to the fact that they are a few years out from having a winning team. For some reason I keep thinking we trade McNadd for Carson Palmer or we trade McNabb to another team and we still pick up Palmer.

I agree that Palmer is probably the person they want to be the stop gap guy. |

Palmer = picks; no thanks. Unless the Bengals are dumb enough to let Palmer walk. Although they'll be even dumber and insist on keeping him on the team. |

I think the Bengals have proven over the years that their FO's ego is waaaaaaaay to invested in sticking it to players who demand trades. Palmer will not be dealt. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Even though he is a slight nut job, I would not mind taking a flyer on Vince Young wiht a modest FA contract. Mobile QB's help make the run game better.
I really hope this isn't true. Orton is just another journeymen and isn't any better than Grossman. Plus why would Denver move Orton? Are they going to go with Tebow when they already named Orton the starter?
Stranger things have happened. Don't lose sight of the history element that exists between Shanahan and Elway. Nothing that happens now between Denver and Washington would surprise me. The distance has gotten much shorter. |

I don't quite agree with this. Just because we were out of it, doesn't mean Beck would have gotten a start. Rex knew the system much better compared to Beck so Shanny isn't going to start a guy he doesn't feel is ready to run the system. Beck having a year under his belt to learn the system from the sideline may in fact be ready to challenge Rex for the starting QB position. That said, I don't think they are just going to "hand the keys" to him without him winning the position over in camp. I do believe they'll try to bring in either Hasslebeck or Young to compete as well. |

But remember that in the final two games The Shanahans were evaluating Beck as to the way he handled the role of being the #2 QB - - meaning the way he stood on the sideline with his helmet close by instead of standing on the sideline with his helmet in the equipment manager's cart. Who knows, he may have been outstanding in that role and shown that he can take the next step up the ladder. [/sarcasm font] |

Shanahan...[Q] “We’ve got a lot of different directions we could go,” Shanahan said. “I can’t share our whole gameplan with you now for obvious reasons, but we do have a plan.” [U] A mountain of information in those two lines. A firm commitment to nothing useful. Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
If Fat Al had problems with Shannys little fitness test, how do you think he is going to fare with a fitness test after an offseason of no mandatory or voluntary workouts, playing less than 20% of defensive snaps the prior year, and in the climate and altitude in Denver. His Fat Ass would be ****in toast. I doubt the Broncos do this, no matter how good the relatioship is between Elway and Shanny.

Which is a shame for their fans, b/c Palmer and Ochocinco could mean 2012 picks as they build their team around the young players they have on offense. |
