Really?
Then who is our quarterback next year?
Colt McCoy, Nate Suffield, another draft pick, or cheaper free agent. There are lots of options while we keep working on building the rest of the roster with the 25 million you didn't spend on him. Do we just give Cousins whatever he asks for even if his play doesn't warrant it? He isn't worth anymore than he's making this year. I'll give him a bonus million. 20 million per year is "all" I would offer. Not a dollar more. If he can't make due or get over his pride and take it, then that's on him. 5 years, 100 million sounds like a fair contract for both sides.

What I don't get was why didn't they throw Mack in the mix like they did last week. I know the Gmen are better than the Bears, but maybe the change up would have helped. The Lions had Abdullah, Riddick, and Zenner being all utilized, as well as the rookie Washington. None of them had 100 yards, but together they were rather effective. All in all, the team does need one stud at RB.

For those of you defending our defense, please tell me how many turnovers we forced today.
And here is a news flash, Eli stayed in the whole game because we barely got near him.
He was balancing his checkbook in the pocket.

Exactly. Our defense has been trash all year, u can't rely on the offense to score 28 every week. The only reason we didn't give up more was because Odell went out at halftime. When he was in they were killing us.

If our garbage ass defense could have stopped Detroit with 1 min left and 80 yards to go, we would already be in basically.

It's not obvious to me.Put Zeke behind that blocking today and he wouldnt have been much better. There were no running lanes being opened up.I would have liked to have seen them try giving Mack Brown a couple carries.

We were at home. It was win and your in. And he shit the bed. All over it. He shit all over the bed and the entire bedroom.
So with a defense, and arguably more weapons than any other team in the league he could not get it done.
That cannot be ignored. He is no longer a rookie in terms of age or experience.
Im more pissed off than anyone that he could not get it done. Cannot ignore what we all saw today. He was shaky from the start. Throwing high and behind everyone. His pocket awareness was laughable too.
I'm sorry HE crapped the bed? All by himself? Yeah because this is wrestling or boxing or MMA. Football is a TEAM sport. What should he have done then thrown less yards, instead of nigh 5,000, and touchdowns instead. Yeah because that would have helped the TEAM.

One player, one play, doesn't win or lose a game or make a season for an entire group. It takes everyone on the field to make something happen. Kirk has proven he is the guy to go forward with. If the defense was more consistent and The Skins had a better kicker then the B&G wouldn't have needed it to come down to the last game of the season. Big Cuz did his, as well as the rest of the offense, for most of the season.

You do not have to tell me about Team. I have been preaching for over two years about how great KC is going to be. Everyone on here knows that. Today was a huge game and yes he shit the bed. His D bailed him out. His wr's bailed him out catching high balls or balls thrown behind him.
Top ten quarterbacks do not panic. Imo he no longer deserves to be paid like one.

Happy New Year- Skins vs Giants gameday thread!

He missed wide open guys, was absolutely terrible in the pocket, accuracy was piss poor most of the game, and threw a ball up for grabs on first and ten with the season on the line and practically in fg range.
Top 10 quarterbacks do not do that shit.
He was at home. He was healthy. He has a shit ton of weapons. His D showed up. There is no excuse whatsoever for his performance. If it were a meaningless game id chalk it up as a bad day and get over it, but this was far from meaningless.
And for everyone talking about TEAM - do you want to tie up so much money in one guy who just showed you that , not only could he not put the team on his back - but he couldn't even "manage" the game? I do not.

You realize that Washington was presented TWO opportunities this season where control of their own destiny was handed to them on a silver platter. After the Philly game, Washington just needed to win the last 3. The the bottom fell out of the Carolina game (First opportunity) then the chips fell their way AGAIN with what amounted to a one game playoff (Giants) and the bottom fell out there too.

Are BOTH lost opportunities on Cousins shoulders?

And the D did NOT show up. To the contrary, the G-Men have not had a 100 yard rusher this season. Until today that is. And the D showed up?

G-Men have the 30th ranked offense in the NFL and the were able to win the Time of Possession battle by holding the ball for 35 plus minutes? And you say the D showed up? Sorry, that is just not the case here.

If the D showed up against one of the worst offenses in the NFL, Washington would have had the ball 35 minutes instead of New York and the outcome would have been different.

If you are asking me whether or not KC showed up against Carolina and the Giants than you obviously did not watch either game. Lol.
I am not saying there is an easy solution to our qb position rite now. There is not. However I do not want to throw millions of dollars away like he did our season today. Ill tell you that much.
This team is full of holes on the field, and the sidelines. However nobody else is standing to get paid like KC. If it were such an easy decision to pay him they would have done it already. They franchised him for a reason.

sdskinsfan2001 01-01-2017 09:12 PM

Re: Happy New Year- Skins vs Giants gameday thread!

The defense held the Giants to 13 points before his stupid season ending interception. Cousins couldn't lead the team to 14, including 1 of the dumbest interceptions you'll ever see. This game was on him and no one else. Yes, it's a team game, but 1 player can lose individual games. He still hasn't learned that you can't just chuck the ball whenever you feel like it. He gets antsy and the bigger the game the worse it gets. And that wasn't his only bad throw.

Re: Happy New Year- Skins vs Giants gameday thread!

I'm not sure if anyone on here realizes this, or perhaps no one wants to admit it, but the Giants are a pretty good team. Their offense leaves a lot to be desired, but they have a SB winning QB and some playmakers. Their defense is for real. They are the only team to beat the Cowboys. Pretty sure they are top 5 in points allowed. Skins barely beat them the first go-round. If not for a fake punt and a couple timely INTs, it would have likely been a loss. I'm glad the Giants didn't rest anyone, and played to win. That is the way it should be. The Skins lost the game, and in turn don't deserve to be in the playoffs. I mean if they can't win a 'win and your in' game at home against a team that really has nothing to play for, other than getting the bad taste out of their mouths after losing to Philly, they have no business being in the playoffs. Period.

And the INT by Cousins at the end of the game was a pass that should not have been thrown, but this team didn't miss the playoffs because of Cousins. This team is probably 4-12 without Cousins. All this talk about him going somewhere else is just the crack talking. Straight garbage... No way in hell he goes anywhere, and the team didn't gain any "leverage" (as was stated earlier in the thread) because of this game, the Panthers game or any other game. He will basically write his own check. Hopefully there's enough $ left to make the defense better.
