Re: Eagles Postgame
Well, in that even a FG would have done the trick. And in that situation, yes I'd rather have have 4 chances to make 10 yards several times than gamble everything on one play after an exciting but rocky drive where it's not like they were imposing their will on every play.

And, Matty, I have a hard time getting how Ron's "offense was gassed" excuse is weak ? How would have losing the game on a play he knew his players didn't have a lot of chance to convert been smart ?

"-Coach that 2 pt conv looked awful, with 3 Dlinemen in the backfield in the blink of a eye, and Howell fumbling the ball back 20 yards, hindsight is 20/20 but could you walk us through the decision to go for 2 in that situation ?
-Well, I knew they were exhausted after that drive, but I'm a tough as nail coach and I never take into account anything my players say or feel, so I went for 2 cuz I wanted to!"

Evaluating if your players are in a position to make the play should indeed be part of the decision process IMO.

(Love the bolded part :food-smil )
Offense is too gassed to run one play so we are going to play OT?

Yes, give them a few minutes to regroup, rather than gamble everything on a play you almost know they're not going to make...
Players get out a couple of plays after a big play (WR, DL etc...), so yeah, a few minutes does make a difference (that's what she said).
While I'm not going to kill Ron over the decision, but I would have gone for 2.

But what I will kill him over is his weak explanation saying the offense was gassed. Fuck that man, as head coach you own the decision.
Rivera's explanation was as weak as ten years old soda. He's been known to occasionally say ridiculous stuff throughout his tenure in DC.

Maybe he meant they ate beans and were farting. What a weak ass excuse by Ron. I did agree with going into OT and had a chance if the refs opened their eyes, Terry was in. That was a huge call.

I can't buy that a group of grown ass men who are elite athletes were too tired to lineup for 1 more fucking play, to beat a legit super bowl contender on the road. Don't buy it for a second, and it's even worse if true. Also, wouldn't the defense be just as tired, on top of being on their heels after giving up the TD? Rivera just covering his own ass like he always does. I don't care if people were fine kicking the XP and going to OT, I would have went for it. But Rivera's reasoning was the most ridiculous reasoning possible.

Well i think they had a ton of momentum so im not sure id say they had no shot. Anyway im totally not second guessing the decision itself. I hear you about a little breather, sort of, and it is what she said but one play is one play. They certainly didn’t look gassed on that last play. I don’t know. I think the excuse was crap. Just say they are a damn good team and you didn’t want the outcome to come down to one play. Felt good about going to OT because you had momentum.
I 100% agree with this and then some. And he is going to have some more rough patches but I don't care. He more than passes the eye test. That was some big boy shit yesterday, especially on that last drive. That is exactly what you look for in your QB.
If we can give him an Oline and continue to develop him we can compete certainly in this division.

I’d like to see Ron to exit and transition to EB and let JDR act as assistant HC and control the defense, I don’t think that’s a bad play.

This really doesn't show if his foot is actually down or still on the db's arm . It was a really close call. We also got some ticky tack calls that lead to points. That's not why we lost. We lost cause Del Rio and his defense, particularly Forbes, stunk.

They would have been in the 40 yard line with Howell balling, all they needed was a FG. Blame for the loss unfortunately goes to Way for a shitty punt at a critical time.

A FG would've only given us a lead, but the Eagles would've gotten the ball for a chance to tie or win.

True, but with a kickoff giving them the ball on the 25, not a punt putting them at midfield. Point is moot though.

And the poor punt was more on Cheeseman. Kid needs to get out of his own head and fix his snapping or be gone.
