That's the biggest argument against spending a lot at MLB, making sure we don't cancel out the 3rd round pick we have coming our way for Scherff.
Good point. Might be better holding off, and going some form of WR, S, LB, in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th rounds. |

Shows how important the position and depth are. Glad he is back, one of the better swing tackles in the league. He will very likely end up starting several games for us. Although I really hope Cosmi can stay more healthy this year. He was always beat-up last year. |

Ohhhhh right. Forgot about that. |
Re: Commanders free agency thread
The Washington Commanders, in a continued effort to keep their own free agents, re-signed veteran swing tackle Cornelius Lucas on Thursday. The deal, according to a person with knowledge of the matter, is for two years and worth $8.2 million.
“I’m excited. I’m excited to get back to work,” he said. “I’m excited to be back. I’m excited to be wanted back, if that makes sense.” Washington expressed hope of retaining Lucas before the start of free agency, but he tested the open market and said he drew interest from “a few teams.” “I feel like I picked up a good amount of traction,” he said. “More than I had in the past. But everybody was fakin’ and booty shakin’. Washington was the only one to come through.”
Legend. This snippet from the WaPo. |

But for me potentially leaving a gaping hole in the middle of our defense outweighs the value of a 3.5 round pick (compensatory picks should be called that way in my view, they come at the end of the round and before the next one). With so many people yearning for a switch to a 4-3 defense because it would fit our roster better (which may have been overblown but was still a reasonable argument IMO), I'm surprised some seem to be ok-ish with having such a weak LB squad for a 3rd season in a row. |

Turns out that it just appears to be that he is a better fit at WLB. I still think Davis is going to be a stud. And I like Holcomb at SLB. So I think we're gonna be improved at LB next year regardless. Just need to find a MLB. I think we can find that in the draft or post draft cuts. |

Yeah yeah I hear that, that's fair. But to me the need is just too big, if you can sign a proven at a decent price, I say go for it. |

Bostic, Holcomb and a rookie at one of the most difficult positions to learn in the NFL was never going to be enough. I also think Davis can still pan out for us, he showed signs of improvement. But to me we need several additions: 1 proven starter + depth. Holcomb, Davis in his second year, a rookie and a couple of UDFA doesn't do it for me. Again, with so many proven vets out there, maybe some of them will indeed be available post draft and waiting would be the smart thing to do (from what I understand post draft signing doesn't cancel comp picks). I'm just freakin out right now ^^ |
Re: Commanders free agency thread

Quite a few LBs out there, actually. https://www.fftoday.com/nfl/freeagents.php?o=1&PosID=60 But a lot of these guys have lost a step for sure.
