Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Put me in the club that likes the idea of moving back and acquiring a couple more picks - unless Kyle Hamilton is there. He's probably the only player I wouldn't pass up at 11. Seriously doubt he'd still be there, but you never know.
I agree. You can’t give all that up for a bridge guy. If that was the plan they would have been looking at Winston or someone.
Wentz's contract is only guaranteed for one season. Doesn't that make it feasible for him to be a bridge for a drafted QB? I'm asking because I'm bamboozled by all the salary cap permutations. So, If I understand the salary cap and, in view of the outrageous (to me) prices teams are paying for supposedly franchise QB's, then the Commanders may have set things up for two possible ways to get the QB they need at a minimal price. They signed Wentz and now they could draft a QB they like. If Wentz is able to turn things around here, great! If not, then they could cut Wentz and go with the young QB they drafted. Then again, I may not fully understand all of the potential salary cap gotchas. |

Washington could extend + restructure to lower the cap hit this year, but not really in their interest to do that at this point (let's see how he does first). |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I just don't think you assume that contract, and give up draft picks, AND draft a QB this year. If they wanted a bridge QB, they could have signed one of the many free agent QBs that were available and then drafted a QB. I just don't see it happening now. This smells like a long term relationship - at least I believe that is what they are hoping for. The rest of the offseason they will do their best to surround him with weapons and protection, and shore up the D.
If he sucks, then they can hit the reset button next year. |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Another month until the draft (4/28/22) ... thats approximately the life cycle of your common house fly (28 days) or 4 life cycles for the common male mosquito (7 days).
Male mosquitos do NOT feed on blood but just nectar. Female mosquitos do feed on blood and can live up to 5 months but their average life cycle is approximately 6 weeks. |

Interesting statistical analysis of this years QB class.
https://www.numberfire.com/nfl/news/42126/which-quarterback-in-the-2022-nfl-draft-class-is-statistically-superior I might be game to take a day 3 flyer on Bailey Zappe |

they are the worst thing ever.. In WNY you don't see bugs often due to the LONG Winters but down south it sucks! |
Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Our coaches went to Sam Howell's pro day and apparently it was a "big turnout" for us. I didn't keep track of whether the coaches went to any of rookie QBs' pro day lately, but this is the first report I have seen regarding our coaches visiting rookie QB's pro day.
Not sure how it will work, but it seems like Howell is in our cards for later in 2nd round or so. |

Ron was at Ridders pro day, but may well have been there to look at Gardner |

It may be something, or it may be nothing. The reporter made it sounds as if the Howell visit is different than others.. But then it might be just that the report needed something to report. The beauty of approaching draft days - a lot of smoke screen going on. |

He would be a solid 2nd round pick in my opinion, and at worst...his floor would be Heinekee's ceiling. |

I feel like it is way too soon to start calling people the next Davis Mills. I feel like Davis Mills isn’t even the next Davis Mills yet. Lol |
