Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
I really don't know who I want, but I know who I don't. Lovie and Shanahan.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
I've seen enough. I actually voted Shanahan in the poll. Mike/Kyle are making Griffin a sitting duck, and almost never move the pocket or bootleg to buy him more time. RG3 is getting killed behind this turnstile of an O-line, and the weekly beating he is subjected to has reached Ramsey proportion during the Spurrier years.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
(1) A GM from a stable organization that knows how to draft
(2) HC I want someone that has either been groomed as an NFL HC, meaning they've been in a coordinator position at the NFL level long enough to have seasoning and their unit must be good. I want a HC that has experience/background on offense but especially in the passing game and for the QB position. If they know the WCO that's a plus. (3) OC must have NFL experience as a QB coach he doesn't have to be a playcaller because if we hire an offensive minded HC they might want to be the playcaller. Would be willing to promote a former QB coach that has worked/had success with a young QB. (4) QB Coach want a coach from the college ranks that really knows the spread offense. (5) DC- I WANT SOMEONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO CALL A 34 DEFENSE My ideal combination: GM Scott Pioli HC Tom Clements (GB) or Pete Carmichael Jr (NO) OC Rick Dennison (TX after that staff gets canned) QB Zac Taylor (MI after they get fired) Passing Game Coordinator or create a position for: Phillip Montgomery (Baylor) DC Romeo Crenel or Keith Butler (Steelers) |

I can't say that I really like any of those selections...

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
No way we cut ties with BAllen. Why can't we split duties with AJSmith? What's another salary paid from Dan?

I want Bill

...[/quote]This is the one thing that Snyder hasn't tried - hiring a competent GM and empowering him to select the head coach and to draft the players to fit an organizational philosophy. I want Baltimore to be the model, where Ozzy Newsome wields the most power when it comes to selecting a coach and drafting players. |

I think scott poili would be an interesting choice as gm but didn't he bring that hella paranoid atmosphere to the organization? Other than that weirdness he stacked that kc team with young talent

Like the OC choice. Prefer philbin if he got canned from the dolphins |

I don't know if I'm turned off by Lovie as a head coaching candidate or not, but I would welcome him as a defensive coordinator. |

That's a great model if you can find the next Ozzie Newsome. The last time we tried that here we found the next Vinny Cerrato. |
Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
At this point the only, ONLY redeeming value in keeping Shanahan is that RG3 isn't going to have to learn a new offense in addition to the time he needs in developing as a QB. Averaging nearly 400 yards per game and nearly 24 PPG, I don't want to take steps back from that. However, what we've got isn't winning games.
I think it's pretty clear that we're heading for 6-10, 5-11 and maybe even 4-12 and with those results, it will be impossible for Shanahan to return absent significant changes on the coaching staff. This is reminiscent of George Seifert with the Panthers. SB pedigree but lottery results. |
