Bama vs Ark was a great game, watched it as I worked on the house. SEC does have the best games in amature football it seems, much better than the pee-wee ACC conference. Couldnt help though thinking though; they should have called this game the Quitters Bowl. Who was more of a pussy? Saban or Patrino? Both these guys quit cause they couldnt compete on a professional level and both lied about leavin, giving it the silent treatment as they tucked tail between legs and quietly tried to exit. Of course you can look to another SEC coach Spurrier who did it the true quitters way, he just came out and said it, he couldnt hack coaching professionals. But I respect that alot more than Petrino and Saben. God bless amature football, where you dont have to be a good coach, you just got to be a good recruiter. :oink:
It's "amateur." I agree that Petrino and Saban are pretty slimy dudes. I disagree that you don't have to be a good coach. Obviously getting the best high schoolers to come play for you is important, but these college coaches have to corral a group of 18-21 year old alpha males into a coherent, disciplined product on a consistent basis. That's no easy task, I don't care how much talent you can recruit. You're gonna tell me that Saban, Petrino, Meyer, Spurrier, etc aren't good coaches? Just because they can't/haven't done it in the NFL? Hogwash. |
i know i'm a little late to the party but if you want to talk about pure blind homerism look no further than vatech fan. year in and year out they think they will win the national championship and year in and year out they crap the bed like always. they are a damn good team but they aren't the greatest. and right now i wouldn't be surprised to see tech lose two more maybe three. they are just too inexperienced right now. and nc state, the u, ga tech and unc are all damn good teams this year and each have a solid chance at beating tech
as far as boise st vs sec goes, it's football and you never really know. right now if i were betting i would take bama(even tho i effing hate bama), ark, and auburn over them, and prob take fla too, especially at home. and on a side note am i the only one who thinks it should be against some sort of rule for them to paint their feild blue? it is so f-ing annoying you can't watch but two minutes of that crap before turning it off, it's almost as annoying as trying to read a post on es
Yeah I agree. It's super annoying. When they wear the all blue jerseys on the blue turf, I think it's an unfair advantage. They totally blend in with the field from head to toe. It's very hard to watch, and it has to make it distracting to play against. How many times do you think an opposing QB has thrown a pick because they missed a defender blending in with that smurf turf? So stupid. Good for Boise St and all the winning they've done recently, but lose the blue turf. |

Yeah to say that you don't need to be a good coach is ridiculous

Hogwash.
Yeah I not saying their not great college coaches, my point was to the effort they gave on a professional level and how they handled it. The more exact point was at the ego of each(which Spurrier, Saban, Petrino are enormous to the point of ridculous) and another secondary arguement not as direct which is this ridculous idea that high level in the SEC is somehow equitable to the NFL which is absolute hogwash (if you can have success here(SEC), then you can have success on the next level). Not remotely close. Your point of different type to handle a kid to a millionare is very well taken and a very good one. You have to admire that. The previous 3 coaches mention though were boaderline disgrace on their handling of their opportunity. Petrino to me was the worst. But with this entire arguement, really just my enjoyment of knocking the SEC fans about something  while distracting from the fact Boise barely handled an ok Oregon St team:doh: |
