There's a difference between complaining and making excuses. The tired excuse from year to year is he is still learning and he just needs to just make adjustments next week.

Maybe as an answer to a reporters question but not just throwing it out there as an excuse for poor play. I know theer is a difference between the two. Campbell might not be a franchise QB or even a decent staring option, but one thing he doesn't do is make excuses. The fans( myself included) are the ones making excuses for him. IMO JC is a class act who does, says all the right things( aside from the play on the field) that teams want in a franchise QB. Thats why I think the fans want him to succeed so bad.

I like Jason Campbell too and I want to see him succeed more than anything, but there comes a time when you just need to perform. And the time is now (even though I really think the time to perform should be a player's opportunity to play in his first game).

If that means that there is a better qb to replace him (even on the current roster) then replace him. He just isn't consistent enough IMO to get this team to the next level (even as a defensive team).

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Good QB's make Good WR's. There are very few guys in the league that can turn a bad QB into a good QB. Randy Moss in his prime was the best example (I don't think he's capable anymore though of getting a 2nd string QB multiple 90+ rating games on his own anymore).

Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Smith are among the very small number of receivers that have proved they can succeed with poor QB play.

Trust me there will be guys in the Bears receiving core that will be on a fair amount of fantasy teams by mid-season. Though I agree that we have a much better receiving core then the Bears. Still 99 times out of 100 that means nothing if you don't have a guy that can get them the ball.

While I am a bit disappointed with JC's play, my expectations of him are to be good enough to compliment our strong defense. It would be nice if he becomes a slinger that throws for a ton of yards and touchdown, the reality is that we need Campbell to be just a bit better than last year in order to win enough games to get us to the playoffs. We have a strong (possibly elite) defense, and a good running game, we just need the passing game to compliment that. Right now he is the best choice we have at QB, and he should be kept in the game until we are eliminated from the playoffs. If he does falter this year, then we will need to blow up the offense and start from scratch for 2010.

It just bothers the shit out of me when people say "he needs to stop making excuses". . Some of the knocks against him (Holds on to the ball too long, inaccurate, slow delivery) may be true but he never makes excuses.

I don't think at this stage there is a QB good enough to replace him. We'll just need to ride JC for the season and hope that he pans out. As I said before, I don't think he's going to win any games on his own or carry the team, he just needs to compliment the defense.

yeah i agree with this. JC, Zorn and the recievers need to show alil something to keep teams from stacking 8 in the box and nullifying portis and the running game. if this is a copy cat league, i think teams will stack the box until JC and the skins show they can make them pay.

in his 2nd yr with zorn all JC has to do is show alil quicker decision making and accuracy and we are in a good spot. not alot, just alil bit of improvement from last year. is that too much to ask?

Yeah, JC's best known skill is to throw it deep. He still doesn't seem to have the accuracy with the short to midrange stuff. If I were the opposing defensive coach, this would be a no-brainer. Stack the box, have the d-ends pass-rush all day (to take away campbell's best skill: the long ball). And the combination of the de's in the backfield and stacking the box would nullify the run game. All that is left is the mid to short range stuff which would be JC's weakness. If the redskins offense beats you, then that would mean JC had a very good day at his known weakness.

This gameplan is mind bogglingly terrible. First of all, assuming DE's are going to get there every time they pass rush is a terrible way to gameplan (otherwise no one would ever blitz) so it effectively takes nothing away from the offense outside of a few plays when they actually apply good pressure. It also opens up gaping holes to run/cut back through. DE's in the backfield opens up the running game because they run by the running back and open holes, and "stacking the box" involves adding exactly 1 more player to the box, a safety, so there is absolutely no way pass rushing on every down would ever be an effective deterrent to a running game. On a well executed run play, you'd have a running back making it to the second level pretty much clean by cutting back into the holes the ends vacated, if a lead blocker accounts for the linebacker in that situation, the rusher's out of the gate and you just got gashed, probably for 10+, possibly for 6 points.

I guarantee if you showed this gameplan to Clinton Portis he be salivating.
