Re: Cowboys-Redskins: Bad Matchups
Patten has proven himself to be a capable wideout in the NFL. While some here may have written him off as a has-been, or that he suddenly forgot how to play, I think it's been more of a chemistry thing with Brunell. If, as you say Brunell is locked in to only two receivers to the point that he's neglecting other parts of the field, then that's the fault of Brunell.
Jacobs on the other hand has had time to break into the starting lineup and each year fails to do it. He has been virtually silent in his first legitimate shot at a starting role. Now, to be fair, Jacobs has been pushed into the #2 spot at a time when the offense as a whole seems to be in a rut. But by the same token, if Jacobs was truly going to be an effective player in this league, his play would be enhancing this offense, instead of being one of the reasons that it's struggling. Still, I'll agree that Jacobs deserves at least the chance to make a contribution throughout the remainder of the season. If by then he hasn't "stepped up" and established himself as a member of the starting unit, his time here may have officially run out.
Well I was looking over the play-by-plays according to NFL.com from this year and it appears that for at least the first month and a half Patten did get a lot of looks just not a lot of receptions. Now part of that could have been Patten's fault, Brunell's, or plays such as the PI against Denver (I think). The numbers start to go down around the time that Patten got hurt. After getting a ridiculous amount of looks his first game starting, Jacobs numbers have gone down. But again, a lot of that is probably attributable to an increased focus on the running game. One thing to note is that unlike Jacobs, Patten never had a holding or illegal motion penalty or anything of that sort. But I agree with Beem-give him until the end of this season. David Patten: Week 1: 5 passes thrown, 3 catches Week 2: 6 passes thrown, 1 catch Bye Week Week 4: 8 passes thrown, 3 catches Week 5: 14 passes thrown, 7 catches Week 6: 12 passes thrown, 4 catches Week 7: 4 passes thrown, 2 catches Week 8: 5 passes thrown, 1 catch Week 9: 3 passes thrown, 0 catches Week 10: 9 passes thrown, 3 catches Taylor Jacobs: Week 11: 12 passes thrown, 3 catches Week 12: 5 passes thrown, 4 catches Week 13: 4 passes thrown, 1 catch Week 14: 2 passes thrown, 1 catch |
Why we will lose and
why we will win...
We will WIN if: 1) Terry Glenn is held in check (no big plays) 2) Moss has at least 2 catches over 20 yds. 3) Our play mix is 60-40 run 4) We convert on 50% of 3rd downs. 5) We win the turnover battle 6) We get at least 3 sacks 7) Portis rushes for 100 yds. We will LOSE if: 4 out of those 7 don't go our way. :dallas: |

Re: Dallas will get sweet revenge
SANTRAPJACK---R U SERIOUS WITH YOUR ANALYSIS????
"The Washington defense is ranked #9 in the NFL and Dallas Defense is ranked #10. The only thing that seperates the two is LESS THAN 2 YARDS of total yardage allowed. Dallas has allowed an average of 300.7 ypg and the Redskins defense has allowed 298.8 ypg. That is only a 1.9 yard difference over 13 games. If you do the math over 13 games the Dallas defense has only allowed 4 INCHES (not yards or feet, but INCHES) more per game than that of the Washington defense." Are you kidding me with your analysis???? that is 1.9 yds per GAME!!!! You would need to multiply that number times 13 (GAMES) or nealry 26 yards.......INCHES, what are you talking about? What was your SAT score? |
Re: Why we will lose and
You won't need to worry about those things. The Foreskins will lose just because you're playing the Cowboys. Don't forget, historically you only get one lucky win against us a year... not 2.

Re: Dallas will get sweet revenge
What did the TUNA think that Larry Johnson and Co. were just going to have a bad day, so he wanted to stop the threat of E. Kinninson, S. Parker and D. Hall? Still makes no sense!!! Sorry that arugment does not hold water!!
Sorry, it does hold water and you obviously didn't watch the game. The Cowboys did not stack more than the front 7 most of the game because, yes, Parcells does believe in his teams' ability to stop the run. Unbeknownst to him his defense played the absolute worst game of the year on defense and yes, KC's offense presents mismatch problems for Dallas in the air now that Dat is gone and our corners weren't 100%. Go watch some film before you start blowing farts out of your mouth gassing up the place. You can disagree with the argument all you like but that still won't change the fact that Dallas played mostly pass D. Sad thing is we couldn't stop that either. |

We've been missing our best corner for about five games now. That's why the Skins are ahead. |

Right, because the Redskins have been totally healthy all season long. |
Re: (Mega Merged Thread) Redskins-Dallas Game
You're complicating things man. We lose the turnover battle and we lose the game...it's that simple!

You're probably right since, inferentially, that means that Brunell plays a solid game. He doesn't need to throw for 300 yards for us to win. Although, with that Dallass secondary, he very well might! |
Re: (Mega Merged Thread) Redskins-Dallas Game
so much crying... everyone has injuries and monday wasn't a miracle, the roids just royally stunk it up. Maybe you can play 60 minutes this time around, maybe you can't, but weak smack and lame excuses certainly aren't going to win this game.

Ok, you entire starting CB corp are hurt probably will not play on Sunday, Gibbs is moving a practice squad guy up to play, and another who has never made a start in the NFL, Sean Taylor will probably be lining up in coverage as well. With all that, and our starting and releif CB's and safeties are all healthy, and you want to talk smack about the DALLAS SECONDARY? |
Re: (Mega Merged Thread) Redskins-Dallas Game
I won't pretend that I'm optimistic about winning, but if Dallas loses, then you'll have to admit that the Cowgirls are one sorry ass team. With all of the injuries in Washington, there's no excuse for Dallas losing. Looking forward to a big upset and kicking your ass! :dallas:
