Had no idea. I googled it to find out how much smaller and found this… As for the football used: In overall circumference, college footballs can be up to 1-1/4 inches smaller than NFL footballs. To get more detailed, the circumference of a college football ranges from 20-3/4 inches to 21-1/4 inches lengthwise from end to end, vs. the 21 inches to 21-1/4 inches in the NFL. So the balls actually vary in size in college and the pros? Thats crazy. |

Re: Sam howell takes Down Dallas postgame
Howell's accuracy was really great in the game, I see only three throws that were off target.

It is kind of funny for a league that is so anal about things that this isn't a big deal. They will literally stop the momentum of the game and disrupt crowd involvement for 15 minutes to decide to put or take of 1 second or if a receivers toes were a quarter of an inch one way or the other but the ball circumference, which can actually have a difference there is wiggle room. |

The NFL ball is skinny if that makes sense, In fact I find it easier than the GST College footballs. Brand matters too

As a retired QB, and by retired I mean not good enough to ever sniff pro-ball lol, I can attest that the NCAAF and NFL footballs are completely different. I preferred the college football myself. But I threw that one way more. I just had a NFL ball as a personal football, never had to use it in a game. |
Re: Sam howell takes Down Dallas postgame
Definitely cannot but the question is how much do we want to pay or give up for that competition based on what we saw? I mean there is definitely a little blind faith involved moving forward. I saw enough to say let’s roll the dice and not give up picks to move up for anyone coming out this year. Probably enough to pass on someone who falls to us and take oline or cb or something else we need. If we take someone in the fourth or Fifth again like maybe the kid out of byu (forget his name) and let them battle it out thats fine.
How much do we want to pay or give up - is the question. Personally, I do not want to give up picks to move up for a QB in the draft this year, and I don't want a repeat of what we did with Wentz (i.e. D Carr...et al). I just want to bring in a Veteran QB with NFL experience, at a reasonable backup QB price, so that there is some competition for Sam. He could very well win the job, and I hope he does - legitimately. Maybe that Veteran is Taylor. Based on his recent comments, he would be happy being the backup here. I think that is best case scenario (if Scott Turner stays as OC) rather than bringing in a Veteran who has to learn this system. |
Re: Sam howell takes Down Dallas postgame
My thinking is that Howell will be better than Heinicke or Wentz. Simply replacing Turner and going with Howell could probably be a couple game swing. Even if Turner stays, I think Howell makes at least a 1 game difference by himself.
You can save all the picks to build up the rest of the team around Howell. Then if it doesn't work out, you go into 2024 with a way better roster to insert a new QB into in 2024. Give Howell a chance, save the resources, build up the rest of the roster (especially the offensive line). |

I am just not willing to draw that conclusion after seeing him throw 19 passes and run 5 times, and the Coaching staff shouldn't be either. |
Re: Sam howell takes Down Dallas postgame
Ron said today that they like Sam and will evalute the position soon.. Basically same shit we knew he'd say

A lot of bs coach speak goes on at these end of the season pressers. Don't think it is even worth it getting worked up about it IMO. |
