It's not about the record. It's not about the score. It's about the how.
Don't tell me you're not infuriated by how atrocious this D is right now. This elite DL is not getting any pressure, our LBs are who we thought they were, our secondary can't cover and we can't get off the field on 3rd down. We could be 0 and 3 after 3 close games lost because of close calls/last minute turnovers, and I wouldn't be that worried. I just don't see how we win 3 more games with how bad they are playing. Ok, it's a week to week league and they have time to turn things around, but we are talking about a massive turn around even to become averagely bad.
I agree !we are 3 games in and we are a offside penalty from being 0-3 and have a D that has collapsed.. a team that is allready starting to point fingers , a brutal schedule and some think I’m silly for thinking we might be one of the worse teams in the league.. we shall see . Hope I’m wrong but I’m out of wishful thinking .. it is what it is .. |
I don’t necessarily mind 1-2 - let’s be honest, with the Chargers and Bills in the first 3 weeks, many of us assumed it. It’s the way we are losing which is via a horrible defense that was supposed to be the team’s strength. If they were just average, we’d be in a different place.
I also disagree with the point re bad officiating. It definitely contributed to the Bills extending multiple drives leading to points, and probably caused our inexperienced QB to press more as a result. These things snowball and it definitely felt that way yesterday. To be clear - would it have changed the outcome? Perhaps not, but it would have probably prevented the drubbing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Come on, this D yielded nearly 500 yards to an offense that was described as struggling and a QB who was supposed to not be playing well, and we gonna complain about a couple of missed holdings (which happens every single NFL game) and a ticky tacky OPI ? You wanna talk bad officiating, how about that incomplete pass by Herbert that was ruled a fumble and touchback ? And that phantom hold that took Jones TD off the board ? Was Payne held on that 3rd and 15? Yes. Do officials miss the same kind of holds every game? Yes. Was the OPI call on McKissick ticky tacky ? Yes. Was it a foul by rule and did he sell it awfully bad? Yes. Point is, bad officiating and missed calls happen all the time, I didn't think we were getting blatantly robbed by the Zebras in this one. We lost because our D played even worse than the 2 previous weeks. Which was already really ugly. |

They moved the ball with ease. |

Re: WTF @ Bills post game thread
Im demoralized after this showing. I was optimistic our D would show improvement, we have too many good individual players for the first 2 weeks to not be the floor.
---------------- 30th in time of possession at 25:32 mins 1st 3 possessions vs Bills 3 n out punt 3 plays fumble 3 plays int it was 21-0 after our 3rd offensive possession |

It is demoralizing - yes it’s early in the season but it is clear we are far from contending. There is no team that can’t beat us. That doesn’t mean we won’t win a handful of games, but with what we’ve seen, barring a miraculous turnaround, there are teams we simply couldn’t beat - eg, the Rams, Bucs, and Chiefs. I don’t even see how we’d be competitive with them at this point. It’s hard to remember the last time we had a team that I felt could play with anyone on a given Sunday.
In the 80s, I knew the team was pretty special. I would not have guessed that ~35 years later I’d still be waiting to see that repeat. I have no idea if the current coaching staff is the answer - although I have my doubts about JDR given the poor performance and lack of adjustments. I just hope the season doesn’t become such a shit show that the name change in the off-season ends up feeling like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Having said that, opportunity in the form of the Falcons knocks. They’re a pretty flawed team too, and we ought to match up well with them (they’re no doubt saying the same about us right now). It really feels like a must win game if the season isn’t going to spiral away completely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: WTF @ Bills post game thread
this season derailed at least early on :
1. Loss of Fitz 2. Defense laying a egg This franchise is derailed because: 1. Dan Synder THE END |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I put us down as going 7-9 ... but I really thought we would be competitive each game, a fun team to watch. Meaningful football. Chief with the constant reminder its only 3 games has helped clear some doom and gloom ... but fuck me man, I want to watch good football. I want to see a defense that disrupts the other teams offense. I want an offense that can click and have an identity. 3 games into the season and already it feels like any other pedestrian boring season for us. Everything is difficult. Horrible 3rd down D. Horrible 3 and out offense. I thought this year wed at least have some fun marching to a .500 or below season. |

Gets easier every year |
Re: WTF @ Bills post game thread
The team's performance through the first three games has been abysmal and we were lucky to escape the Giants game with a win. That said the season is dynamic, things change as it goes. I still fully expect the defense to get it figured out, and consistent with Rivera's pattern over his coaching career, get better as the season goes along.
I just hope we're not out of it before it can even make a difference. Dallas looks pretty strong, we'll need to be within striking distance for the divisional stretch at the end. |
Re: WTF @ Bills post game thread
Another bad loss or two and I can see this season getting really ugly. Like top 5 pick kind of ugly. ATL is going to be code red.
