I would get a German Shepherd in a heartbeat if not for the shedding/dander. My wife's allergic. Great dogs.

I will bet anyone that must be a hen and not a rooster. I had a rooster I could not turn my back on, he liked to fly up and try to claw my face. He got me a few times, the razor sharp claws left some pretty nasty gashes. This is back in Southern California in an area populated with coyotes. I started leaving him out at night and within a week or so I found a big pile of feathers and two wings. I am sure the coyote earned that meal.

My wife and I found this injured seal pup walking on the beach in Kilkee today. 50 locals gathered around wondering what to do, and the guy from New Jersey gets the Seal Sanctuary there to save it. Lol.

Lost another good one (all animals are good though), our 18 year old poodle coco passed away. Ive had him for 8 years. My wife is handling it well and my daughter. He has pretty much just been sleeping alot for the last several months but always popped up for dinner and we would have to wake up two or three times a night to let him out. He never required vet visits and was just an awesome dog. His eyes were so blind looking but he got around just fine right up until the end. We were sitting in the living room tonite when suddenly he took a turn for the worse. On the way to the hospital he died in my wifes arms - she had just said to him that it was ok for him to go. Its bizarre but he understood her because he went. I imagine him just full of life now up there in heaven. I miss you buddy and Ill see you when i see you. Youre a good boy.

Sorry for your pain . We had 2 dogs in our 35 years of Marriage and both past away at the age of 13 . Our first was a pound puppy mix who was great with the kids ,our second was a pure Chocolate Lab who was a kid and till the day she died acted like one . I feel I was so lucky with the first two I won't try again . It will get better .

The animals give their affection unconditionally, and they are less judgement...

Thanks Giantone. I had a rescue dog that passed away after a couple of years. We have two other rescues. We usually get seniors because nobody wants them. We have our hands full and it makes vacations tough but there are so many animals that need a good home. Its hard to not get more. We wont be getting a third anytime soon, but you should get another bro. Even showing a rescue just one year of love is worth its weight in gold. Thanks again man.
