EB doesn't bother me too much when looking at all the games, overall, the offense is probably over performing given how horrendous the OL is (complete lack of talent there which I primarily blame Ron for). Additionally, it is refreshing to see in game adjustments again after so many years.
Agreed, EB would be able to run a full offense with Brissett at QB. Instead we have to do high school plays for Howell. The bears had 3 dbs out and the worst secondary in the nfl. SomeHowell we couldnt complete shit downfield. |

My best friend is a die hard browns fan ive been saying this since pre season, i dont know wtf anyone sees in this dude but i watched him suck HORRIDLY last year. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
you cant run the ball 6 times and be successful in this league. playing from behind or not. I bet the KC didnt have numbers that low and no, they werent always blowing teams out milking the clock.
between pacheo & mckinnon alone, avg was 15 attempts per game. No including C.E.H. and designed mahomes or reverses etc. 6 is in-excusbale and an ugly trend for EB So is lining up in the same formation every play. I dgaf where the WR's line up smh.... its a joke, then he puts terry into a split back with his hand in the dirt on 3rd and short - LMFAO. he needs to get it together and fast or he'll be looking for a new job end of year EB offensive philosophy has fallen out a favor with me HARD. run the fuckin ball. |

Yeah, they were in a hole because the offense managed 3 goddamn points in the first half against a terrible defense. Punt, punt, field goal, interception, end of the half. |

Can’t blame it solely on Howell, team lack of effort |

Who blamed it solely on Howell? |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I wouldn't blame any of it on Howell. He didn't miss gap assignments, miss tackles or blow coverages.
|
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
He takes some blame. Definitely didn't lead receivers well and held on to the ball too long last night.
|
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I think Howell is doing as well as could be expected. It was his 6th game, and he plays for one of the worst teams in the NFL, with one of the worst OL's in the NFL. He has room for improvement, for sure, in-terms of getting rid of the ball and anticipating routes being opened, but I think that's to be expected at this point in his career.

Again where was 17? I’m a huge Terry fan like all of us but if you are THAT DUDE then you make plays. He literally has had one good game out of 5 all season.
He’s a WR2 folks but we don’t want to admit it because he’s so beloved Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
He can't throw himself the ball. Receivers are open, by NFL standards, and he and others have already proven they don't need to be "open" to make a play.

Several of us reiterated that to him last night. McLaurin has proven in his brief career that's he's a WR1 even with average-to-decent QBs. Football guys has him rated in the top 10-15 wideouts in the league. The receivers are getting open, but Howell isn't exactly force feeding any particular receiver and he frequently will waste an opportunity due to indecisiveness. If Howell were to volume-toss to McLaurin then he'd change his tune about him being a WR2. Then again, it seems like this is the hill he wanna die on. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
The scheme also gives you reads and majority of the time if read 1 ISN'T Terry, Sam has to throw to read 1 who's open before he gets pummeled. The system did not look Terry's way last night you could see it on the field

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
On his current pace, Howell would be sacked 99 times this season.

I like Sam Howell but the damage he is taking every week I worry he is going to get shell shocked like David Carr, if he does not end up getting injured before then from being hit / sacked so much every game. EB's schemes so far are getting Howell killed out there. I doubt RR could think up anything better.... |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Agreed. Maybe along with D coordinator, we should be looking for an O-line coach...someone who can get these fuckers on the same page, use better technique, something.
|
The Sam Howell Thread
We need coaches and players. Right now we have no staff (nobody else was coming here under Dan, that is all about to change), and on our 53 man roster right now I think maybe 20 are keepers. Obviously more than 20 are coming back hopefully a new staff gets more out of them. Outside wr’s/rb’s and d line shit gets real weak real fast. Quarterback seems ok. Im praying Harris gets some true football minds in here and next year isn’t another building year, that instead they make us consistently competitive right away. We got quite a train wreck on our hands because of that dude who skipped town with his billions.

Reminds you of the time you loved George Michael in Wham.
I need you to stow this absolutely preposterous shit about QB1 asap. No matter how many blatantly obvious facts or stats that are put in front of you - you hate this kid. Just give it up jam. If anyone obsessed with his beard it's clearly you cuz that is prolly the first time pn this boa4d Sam's facial hair got mentioned since he was drafted. Just stop, kids a rookie and his coaching staff fucking sucks calling 55 straight pass plays from early in the 2nd. The only time I've ever seen 2 ppl other than the qb in the backfield TERRY was lined up at split back with HIS HAND IN THE DIRT, on 3rd and 1 (3 yd loss and punt)... so don't tell me that the routes that take 5 seconds to come thorough when he has a line that gives him 2 secs on avg and 4 secs MAX is his fault. ...... Sorry, stop blaming howell you may as well bring Wentz back with your attitude. Talk about a sack record. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Howell is not the problem. He has plenty of talent to be a good NFL qb. The problem is clearly the oline and the defense. We knew the oline may have issues, but I don't think anyone forecasted the defensive issues. Frustrating.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
The problem is and continues to be In order
Whoever is making decisions on draft picks/free agency then Head Coach, D Cordinator, OL,LB,DB …. Howell is way down the list .. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I’m just glad this will all be blown up.
Jiffy lube will be out of the league along with Ron and Jack Del Taco. |

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Sam will be fine .. either here or another team ! You put him behind a good Oline and he will be outstanding! Anyone who can’t see that doesn’t deserve to get in a debate .. they have other issues to deal with 😀
|
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Howell is going to have growing pains. Not every qb comes in and tears it up from their first start.
He needs to work on his decision making and getting the ball out quicker - this offensive line is not good enough for him to stand back there 3-5 seconds before throwing the ball. I put the blame on everybody for Thursdays performance, I don't think anyone had a good game. Even Bieniemy called like 55 consecutive passing plays at one point. |
