Oliver Stone - IMDb *mind boggled*
Yes, because Alexander, Savages, Wall Street 2, W., World Trade Center, Any Given Sunday, and Natural Born Killers were all tour de force films. Ugh. I'm done with this topic. On to something else! |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
I have to agree Oliver Stone is vastly overrated. Alexander was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Natural Born Killers is awful, anyone who likes that movie needs their brain checked because odds are you have to be on drugs or really messed up to like that kind of crap.
Changing subjects I see that Compton and DHall are getting into it. Good stuff Compton is going to surprise people this year IMO. |

I apologize for the Al Pacino reference which started this. Stone is overrated - but I do recall enjoying Natural Born Killers and would watch it again rite now.

So I read from practice reports that Gettis is improving.

I've read some good reports lately on Gettis, LeRibeus, and Compton. They all obviously have a long way to go, but it's nice to hear they are improving. |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
As we all know art is subjective, just take a look at the supposed "top 10 films of all time" list, most of which were released well before we were born. As for any given Sunday, I thought it was mediocre when I first watched it, that's because I was way to young to understand the behind the scene politics and intricacies of playing, coaching, and owning a team in the NFL.
Fast forward 15 years later, now that I've matured, and became more educated about the greatest league to ever form, I see the movie in a completely different light, it's remarkable how deep he went into the psychological aspects and struggles that everyone has to endure, the astronomical amount of pressure that's put on everyone involved. In my opinion it's arguably the greatest football movie ever made, although the longest yard and remember the Titans were great ones too. |

I saw a stat yesterday (I forget where though) that the Redskins have drafted the most OL in the NFL since 2010.. Combine that with the stat that we've drafted the most players in the past 2 drafts it seems like there is a plan to build depth.. In addition to the good reports on Gettis, LeRibeus and Compton I am also that I haven't seen where Hurt has regressed or peaked. It would be nice to have him as a solid backup that we could count on if needed. |

yeah . . . that's what i want to see out of the rookies, especially the lower round draft picks . . . |

LeRibeus has some real dirtbag potential.

He's a LG, Gettis is a RG. Different footwork, responsibilities, etc. He will get plenty of reps out there with Hurt running with the starters. |

really. I see a major difference between a Guard and a Center or a Guard and a tackle, hell I see the major difference between a LT and a RT, but is there really a difference between a LG and a RG? I say the only difference is the side your on. Please tell me how much differently they are cause I don't buy it. I'm giving that a Seth Meyers Really?!? |

Im going to say that there are two reasons why someone would be better suited playing one or the other......... first - i think it depends on who you are playing next to, like if the LT is the dominant force on the line you may want to put a certain individual at LG if he is a weak link - so that way you dont have a right side that is totally vulnerable. second - unless everyone is pulling right or left on a certain play it might be difficult for a right gaurd who is used to going forward and right to go forward and left - the footwork is all different and the direction - like a right handed person throwing left handed ,,,that being said I think most gaurds can change sides if need be - |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
Would anyone liked to have seen the Skins make the move the Chargers made to solidify depth for their OL?

Haslett coached the Tuskers a year or two I believe. One would think either of these guys would be a better option than Black. Just throwing this out there for discussion that's all. I think it speaks volumes for the talent pool for quality OTs. Wondering if team explores all avenues. |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
Im all for signing and exploring depth, etc. However I would much rather go with young draftpicks than old veterans that spent the majority of their career in the UFL - Oh and who is the "Black" you are referring to?
|

Jordan Black. I'm with you on the draft picks whichever round they were drafted. |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
Flew under my radar - I would have to agree with you on him not being a good option - if for no other reason than I never heard of him. lol - I want to call him camp fodder but if we keep dropping like flies on the line who the hell knows?
|

Yeah , at least Shanny can mold them young and teach them our scheme - I think Gettis is going to be a solid player - thought that when we drafted him - Iowa is like an o-line breeding ground. |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
Montgomery is a backup at best and we started this guy all last year.
Man im glad our QB had the wheels to dodge danger and believe me thats what hell be doing alot this year.. NEXT YEAR well address this bigtime. I really hope they can get theyre act together and protect. |

I remember seeing him ranked as the #16 best center in the NFL out of 32. RT is the biggest problem on this team by far. |

#16 out of 32 says "exactly average" to me, not necessarily "leagues better centers", but I get your point.. As far as Davis and Toudouze -- would they have fit into the zone blocking system? I'm guessing Shanny / Allen know about all the O-linemen out there and passed on these, and I'd trust them. |

I've heard that before too. But I've also heard that Montgomery is the Selvish Capers of centers in the NFL. Will Montgomery was a seventh round draft choice. He was never heralded as a good or very good center. He plays the position and that's all you can ask of him. But he's not Jeff Saturday or Mangold. |

Says top-12 here, at least in run blocking. PFF is very credible. They grade and rank the O-linemen every year with a bunch of formulas. Bleacher is pretty much a tabloid, along with Florio's PFT. |

Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
To add to our OL woes....ugh
Chris Russell @Russellmania980 We have a report that Trent Williams went in for an X-Ray on one of his lower legs/ankles at halftime. No updates right now. Can't find him |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
@Rich_Campbell: Yeah, Trent is laughing with teammates on the sideline. No crutches or anything like that. It's not noticeably wrapped or anything.
|
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
@Russellmania980: Trent Williams is signing autographs behind #Redskins bench, appears to be limping a bit...but putting all weight on it. Should be no issue.
