Jansen couldn't be more right.. Although I haven't heard about Palmer being pursued by us, wonder if he has any inside info ?

Something we've mentioned here a few weeks ago. Again, like Alex Smith this is just something I'm speculating as is this columnist (we're not the same person)

Are we still trying to get value for McNabb, or is just a matter of time before he's released?

I would love to see this. I do not feel we have any better, or other for that matter, viable options as this point. We would be doing pretty well with 2012 picks if this were to happen.

I think we'd like to get some value, but everything is so up in the air with the labor situation right now

I highly doubt we can persuade a team to give us a third rounder for McNabb, much less a 2nd rounder. I see us trading him for a 5th and 6th round pick. One can always dream of getting that kinda value though........

MTK 04-06-2011 08:08 AM

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011

Probably not a straight up 3rd rounder, but perhaps a 4th that could become a 3rd with certain conditions being met. Or a 5th that could become a 4th, etc.

Good story, long but good. I'd go for the Skins giving him a shot, especially if he did something nice with a portion of his earnings. Help his dad and sister out. Start a fund for incest victims, and or be a spokesman for any non profit organizations who help incest victims.

The guy made a horrible mistake at 16 after apparently being abused and fatherless. It seems he is trying to do the right thing. He has the right type of people saying the right kind of things about him. After eight years with, apparently, no incidences of violence or legal issues, he seems to have put in the requisite time warrant a second chance.

I would have absolutely no problem giving the guy a shot. In fact, I wish we would.

Yea me too. I thought via rumor he was around 16 and she was a lot younger, I didn't realize she was just a year younger, not that it makes it ok, but teenagers with hormones kicking being left at home alone with boredom is not a good combination whether family or not. I have a little more understanding considering the sister admits it was just as much her fault and that it was not forced and has not continued. And as mentioned in the article he has kept himself out of trouble since. You can't say that about some other NFL players.

I was hopeing we would sign this guy after the draft last year what do we have to lose IMO it would be a win win situation. He's hungry and has alot to prove.

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011

Hmm.. At first glance, pretty disgusting and disturbing. But I do feel bad for him that his life changed based on something stupid that was consensual in high school. Haynesworth stepped on someone's face, and ran over someone in his car- yet we paid him 100 million dollars.

Still, I can't see us reforming our image by having the Washington Post headlines saying we're hiring sex offenders. The headlines don't have room for nuances, and are unforgiving. I'd say that's more the Raiders or the Bengals.

Then again, a good player can transcend headlines - Mike Vick was almost the MVP last year, and is being considered for a Madden Cover after being in jail 2 years ago...

hell I've been voting for giving the guy a shot

might be too long by now, but a camp invite wouldn't hurt anybody

For me, it would just be a question of the money/salary cap implications. Bush could really add some big play possibilities to the offense.

We need some explosiveness on offense.

Id love to nab DeAngelo Williams.
DeAngelos showed some injury concern but he's used to a tandem anyways.
Him and Torain would be lethal.

As for they're running lanes...
Have the Falcons tagged TYSON CLABO?
If not Tyson Clabo & DeAngelo Williams would be perfect.

He has interest in the fish until we toss em a slightly fatter check.
Let's pull that trigger Allen.

GET KRIS JENKINS.

Then we can draft a Center, QB, WR, RB or other needs with those second-round picks.

NT! Come on, we had the 31st ranked defense last year...

I wonder if Franklin from 49ers is still available?

I'd be fully behind bringing Bush in here, he would bring a dynamic to our offense that we've been missing for years. Let's get a NT, CB, WR and C/G early and see if we can pick up a punter somewhere along the way.

it's in limbo, everyone seems to be waiting for the 8th circuit ruling

players are allowed to use team facilities, teams are allowed contact with players and off-season activities

I don't think that we'll see any FA activity yet though, they want to keep it consistent with whatever comes after the ruling, which may be as early as today

I think he just thinks he's going to get traded since they decided to go with a newer model at RB.

Yeah unless they can get a trade offer reliant on a contract restructuring he should hit the open market

Monkeydad 04-29-2011 11:44 AM

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011

If we bring Bush in, I want him used as a wideout, preferably in the slot opposite of Moss. He won't hold up, or be very effective as a RB.

Moss, Armstrong on one side, Kelly and Bush on the other side.

When Kelly goes down, plug in Fred Davis in his spot in the 4-WR package. :D

If Rex is our QB, just load up the field with receivers and let him do his thing 50 yards down the field.

Gotcha. Well then I wouldn't mind bringing him here. He can be our change of pace back, and should be use a lot as a pass catching RB.

So, cut Albert...then we can afford Bush.

Honestly, his asking price is going to be too high for his contributions and injury risk. He makes some spectacular plays, but overall, he's been a disappointment. Maybe he was just overhyped or maybe it's his ego, but he just isn't a full-time RB. His real value is on punt returns and receiving in the open field.

Who's going to offer him big money as a situational guy though?
