One thing that I want on any coach is flexibility. The Chiefs were able to adjust to life after Tyreek Hill. Having an OC that is able to adjust to what we have on this team will be key. I feel like we've been lacking this forever.

Good game ... didnt feel as intense as it should have been, tied with 5 mins to go.

Both D lines were invisible .. I guess game planned away to a degree but you have to win 1 v 1 battles, Reddick and Graham did nothing for the Eagles.

Possession football. Chiefs had 4 possessions in the 2nd half, eagles had 3 then the last second one.

Eagles D gave up 24 points on 4 straight drives ...
I feel like his name is being thrown around every year. Seems crazy that both coordinators for the losing SB team are being lined up for HC positions, and this guy who just won his second SB as offensive coordinator, can only get interviews for lateral moves so "he can prove himself."

Meanwhile the likes of Josh McDaniels gets the chance to wreck his second team as HC.
His name is definitely mentioned annually as far as interviewing for head coach positions. However, I have not seen Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and everybody else throwing his name around and giving him credit for this & that like they have done this year.

It definitely seems like a special emphasis to get him some recognition. I don't have a problem with it. I think they are finally realizing that he needs to move on, and get out of Andy Reid's shadow.

Something I noticed last night and Sheehan brought it up…the Eagles QB sneak play is amazing but I noticed on a couple, the up running back is getting a running start push in the back of the QB.

I’ve seen this more around the league and think they need to get rid of it. I thought there was a rule, but it’s not being enforced if so.

Anyone notice this?

I don't like that play either, but I guess it's not illegal anymore. From what I can tell it used to be, but they changed it around 2005-2006, so now it is only illegal to pull or pick up the ball carrier, but it is not illegal to push from behind. Good for them for taking advantage of the rule all season...it's basically unstoppable. I think it's stupid though, and needs to be talked about in the off season.

Over the past two seasons and very much so this season i have noticed refs have become very lenient on blowing the whistle on "stopping of forward progress"; especially on critical "inches" plays

So many times i have said ok the the runner has stopped and here comes someone to try to push the pile a bit more for the yardage and no whistle.

Maybe its just me, but it seemed in years past that was a faster whistle.

I think you parse it too…like when I see a ball carrier not going down and basically a scrum forms….I like that, but if the play off the los is to run multiple back into one another to push forward that’s the issue.

League likes offense, league probably doesnt mind teams going for it on 4th and short more often and converting. Advanced analytics put a lot of value on possessions and for good reason as we saw last night in the second half. Chiefs won bc they got 4 possessions vs Eagles 3.

But yeah .. the designed run into back of QB to push is pushing the envelope past the natural organic big pile push of years past.

No whistle -- I dont like it either bc if they let it run without whistle but I feel like if he gets pushed back they will give him forward credit anyway but if he gets pushed forward he is awarded the 1st down. It just benefits the offensive team.

I know this is a tit for tat thing but the rule concerns the ball carrier you can push the O linemen forward and by doing that the QG also moves forward. That's the way it was explained to me, if I'm wrong I apologize.

Offense > Defense in terms of game planning and consistency. If you don't have a QB that can control the game you won't be hoisting the Lombardi. The ideology that you can win with a top flight defense and a game manager is twenty years in the past.

I think the 'D wins championships' mantra still works, but only in as much as you need a strong D to challenge for one. A great O alone can't do it all. It is more about building a rounded out roster (and not neglecting ST either), than ever before, but without a strong D don't expect to win much.

I agree. Look at the Eagles last night. They had over 400 yards of offense, and over 300 of that was passing. They crushed the time of possession. However their defense couldn't stop anything in the 2nd half. That is why they lost.

And with regard to offense, who really cares if you are running the ball more or passing the ball more, as long as you are scoring touchdowns. That is the name of the game. And if you can do that while keeping your opponent (and your defense) off the field, even better.
