It looks like there is more than one idiot on that play. Watch Fuller loafing at :06. He thinks that McCain will just take care of it. Bums...
I think you mean St-Juste. He hit low gear there... It looks terrible, but honestly, the only dude within 10 yards of Swift when he fell down was Jeter, who was signed just before the game and isn't even on the team now. I think it was just an unfortunate play. McCain recognized it immediately, but came in too hot. Fuller came in hot but he was obstructed by Chark. Forrest and Jackson were covering their responsibilities and really weren't in a position to make a play...and Swift is pretty damn good in the open field.

I think if you want to assign blame, because that is what my kids like to do...then you have to put it on St-Juste for lolly-gagging. He had the best angle to get Swift after he popped up, but hit looooowwww gear as if the play was over. You can blame McCain for missing the tackle, but at least he was aware and had some intent.
RR said one guy missed his assignment. Goal of play was to see if they could get a sack to push them out of field goal range. I can respect the aggressiveness but my Tuesday evening quarterbacking says the more pragmatic approach would have been to call a cover play and have them kick the FG. I might be wrong but at this point I believe it was 22-15 and in the 3rd quarter. Detroit was at the 21-22 yard line, playing in a dome, that would have to be one helluva sack to force them out of field goal range. I'd take the 3 knowing we outscored them 15-3 that quarter and had momentum.
Im talking about the idiots running around like they have never tackled anyone in their life more then the play call.

My favorite was Jeter who could have tackled him at the 15 decides not to then runs in a circular arc to the end zone and pushes St Juste in the back and blocks Forrests path

McCain has to make that tackle or at the minimum put a shot on him to stop momentum.

It’s infuriating to watch him, Will Jax and Fuller play so inconsistent. We either need a complete rebuild with these 3 or play scheme which allows them to play for their strength.
I really didn't think Davis played bad on Sun. They did what they should be doing and that is blitzing him a lot more.

Also you don't rip your players to the media. That to me is a BIG no no. Ron saying openly "we're running out of time" about Davis is WRONG. All Ron had to say was "Jamin is working hard, he did some good things out there and there are some things we need to clean up." You simply don't say what Ron said.

What if the players openly called you out for your stupid ass decision to go for two when there was no reason to?
Totally agree. Tossing a player under the bus is 100% the wrong way to go. JDR is trash. I'm done with that bozo. Ron knows better too. These guys ignored the LB spot so they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Check that.. St. Juste.. that looks so bad on film. Perhaps he thought Swift dropped the ball.. lol.

Need to see more of this, Payne and Allen taking on 3 OL and having Jamin free to attack:

Concur on both.

You'd hope that's what he thought, lol.

Yep, there's at least three players that probably could have made the tackle. Bad things happen when you let dudes just run around wide open. Sometimes they can have a seat for a minute and still score.

Re: Lions postgame

They need to play with some urgency. Pretend the football is $1 million and it is yours if you tackle the guy. Dotson said at the beginning of the season that he thinks about the football like it's money, and because he likes money, he goes to get it. And he plays like it. Heck, if that's what motivates, fine by me. Go get it. You literally are making millions to tackle people after all.

Now with the link: https://firstsportz.com/nfl-news-i-love-money-jahan-dotson-is-confident-for-his-first-season-in-the-nfl/

Side note -- I don't recall the last time I was as excited about a WR tandem as McLaurin and Dotson. Explosive. And Samuel has looked good this season so far as well. Really happy where we are with that position.

It's hard to think that there is a better trio out there. And if/when B Rob comes back and we are able to establish a running game, this offense could be pretty potent. Just gotta get that D turned around - so frustrating.

Spot on. Our TE situation isn't bad either, although I think Thomas is still recovering from his injury last year. But Bates has been a very good blocker, and Cole Turner should be back soon -- that's a position that is in decent shape as well. An average D would make this team pretty dangerous.

I still wish they'd find some additional LB help -- Blake Martinez is out there. I see the Giants just signed Jaylon Smith. The dude has his issues, but I have to think he's got more to offer than Mayo, for example. Even incremental improvements in the middle and back end of the the defense would be welcome. As would better coaching/scheme. How we had a top 5 D two years ago is beyond me. Seems like an age.

This is why I think it will turn around. Even last year for the second half of the season the D was pretty good - if you take out the stretch against DAL/PHI/DAL when they were decimated by injury/COVID.

I hope you're right. I will say this, whether it is personnel, scheme or a combo of the two, coming out flatfooted like they did last week just can't happen again. They looked lost. I know that happens occasionally even to good teams (e.g., Green Bay and SF in week 1), but for a team trying to turn things around, they need to be hungrier. Again, the Lions serve as a good model here. I think Siriani's Eagles may as well, unfortunately.

My issue with the Defense is the coaching staff unwillingness to make a change. And they should make a change, since they are running into the same problems from last year. At this point, they should have learned from last year when they refused to move Collins to the Buffalo nickel and make him a hybrid player.
