I'm watching the Saints @ Giants game right now. I do think we can beat them. And not like "it would be possible that we beat them if blah blah blah", more like "if we play like last week we're winning this one 34 to 21". (Told you next round of Kool Aid was on me) |
Re: Around the League Week 4
Before people bitch and whine about Earl Thomas and LeVeon Bell, realize that the NFL doesn't reward good player performance for certain positions. Sure, the NFL will overpay a good player like Cousins, but then they will refuse to pay the best RB in the league (Bell) and a top safety like Thomas, but then they'll refuse to trade them as well. Hell, look at Khalil Mack and Aaron Donald, two of the best players at a premium position, and they had to fight tooth and nail to get better deals.
It's funny people say, "play your damn contract" or "just shut up and play, you are getting paid." But no one complaints when NFL teams cut players and don't honor their contracts; specially when teams cut players after the free agency period (see Dez Bryant). And none of this is going to happen until the NFLPA does something about it. They are so hung up on non-issues like player discipline, in the next CBA they should find a way to do something about it.
Cousins isn't overpaid because he plays a position that demands his salary. The Jets offered him MORE than the Vikings. Think about that. He's taking less to play for the Vikings. If Thomas hits the open market he'll get a contract but it won't be a long term deal, it will probably be a short one for less that he's making now. He's never going to make more than he is now, whether he got hurt or not. Safety is like playing running back, it's a disposable position and he's almost 30. One more thing. Thomas is under contract that I believe paid him 26 million or something like that. Seattle doesn't have to resign him if they don't want to. He can just play it out and be a FA. Different story for Bell, he would be playing on one year deals. Thomas is an asshole. Seattle has paid him a ton of dough and he showed ultimate disrespect. |

And you're right, the NFLPA needs to work on the guaranteed money in next CBA. But you're never going to get a contract that says if you play well prior to the last year of the contract the team has to offer you another huge contract before the season starts. Under the current rules that their union agreed to, Seattle has done nothing wrong. And acting like a whiny bitch isn't going to help your cause (most times). |

Can you imagine flipping off your bosses after they've made you one of the highest paid at your position, paying you 26 million over the last three years? That is just wrong on so many levels. |

Good stuff here
Offense has too much of an edge. The recent history of 400-yard passing games shows that as well as anything: 2014: 11 400-yard passing performances in 256 games 2015: 10 2016: 12 2017: 8 2018: 12 … through 62 games! “The game is becoming far less physical, and the intimidation factor is gone,” former defensive tackle and current ESPN Monday night analyst Booger McFarland said. “The quarterbacks know they can get hit, but not really hit like they used to.” Agreed. Peter King nails it....its bullshit, they need to do something to balance it out. The bs hits on the QB should be the first step. |

Mitch Trubisky had 6 tds yesterday, 5 in the first half! I'm sorry but its not like hes Peyton Manning, the league has basically no defense anymore. |

Yeah, but people complain when a starting QB goes down for a team, so the league and teams will continue to protect that position. |
Re: Around the League Week 4
What is redskins record on big TV games?? Coming off a bye ? My bet is and this is all on head coach.. we get killed. 42 - 24 on national tv .. I’m sorry but I have no faith in head coach gruden to get this team prepared. I actually believe talent wise this is a very very good team that has a coach that just does not get the most out of them.. I’ll be glad to eat crow if they win !! But until I see better halftime adjustments and a full game not one half I’m skeptical.

Re: Around the League Week 4
