Skins v Ravens - Sat night at 7:30

Washington Redskins vs. Baltimore Ravens - Preview - August 29, 2015 - ESPN

The undefeated Redskins, who have yet to lose this year, head 30 miles north to play the barely .500 Ravens.

As preseason games go, this is the 3rd one. Starters start and players can make or break the roster.

Should be a good one. I plan on having my lady wear a ray rice jersey then putting a lot of black makeup under her eye. Perhaps I will dress up as a brass hand rail. I am definitely buy one of those big fists to hold a beer can.

What are we looking for (non-rg3 related)?

Anyone else going? Know a good tail gate I can crash?

I wish the Ravens played a team that was a better measuring stick in their third preseason game. The Redskins are going to be real bad.

I'm going to the game. I have a tee shirt that has a picture of Jack Kent Cooke on it and it says.... "Rolling over in his grave since 1999." I'll have that on.

Ravens fans are cool for the most past, and they really get into it up there. The town is kind of trashy but I don't mind. Great food up there and I'm going for free.

As for the game, really want to see how the o-line holds up. That's mainly what I'm looking for. Particularly the right side.

I'm going as well...I hope to see a 'Skins defense that is much improved. I can live with a "bend-but-don't-break" type D. Make the other team work hard & create turn over opportunities.

On Offense, I just ask that we see signs of life...hoping for more, but I'm a 'skins fan & I'm ready to settle at this point!

2 on defense? I know Gallette who is the other? All of the secondary will be back be the start of the season and Breeland will be back week two.

We lost two TEs one being our starter.

Re: Skins v Ravens - Sat night at 7:30

list of places to tailgate/get good cheap food and beer within spitting distance of M&T:

1. gameday firehouse

https://www.facebook.com/GamedayFirehouse

really cool cheap place. beers are $3 to 4 dollars, wine and mixed drinks for the ladies. pit beef and chicken and turkey sandwiches for $5 or so. good cigars for 5 bucks or so.

mostly family friendly. older good natured crowd. lots of seats indoor and outdoors with benches and big wood tables.

4/5 stars

2. gameday warehouse (there just called the firehouse and warehouse but when i went to pull something off the internet as a reference they are called "gameday" so maybe they are connected)

Gameday Warehouse - Sports Bars - Carroll-Camden Industrial Area - Baltimore, MD - Reviews - Photos - Yelp

also in the shadow of M&T.

you will most likely be standing up, girls will be walking around w shooters, beers will cost more than the firehouse, lines at bathroom etc.

tons of TVs everywhere, huge open warehouse w tons of standing space, volume is LOUD.

looking for a lively drinking environment, this is a good place. especially if it is raining bc Pickles and Sliders is mostly outdoors drinking.

3/5

3. Pickles/Sliders outside of camden yards.

Pickles Pub Baltimore MD maryland downtown ravens statium food and drink

A slight walk from here to M&T but you do get to do the "ravens walk" which is a pathway from Camden to M&T that is lined with vendors and stuff.

indoors are usually crammed so you are outdoor drinking on the closed off portion of the street. cornhole going on and what not.

this is a fun place. ive spent many a times drinking here missing first pitch. beers are in the $4-5 range, mixed drinks for the ladies.

best perk is all the street vendor food. really good brats and dogs at really good prices.

4/5 .. if you havent been to pickles/sliders pregame, its almost a must go.
----------------------------------------

ive never been to a ravens pre season so i dont know if the firehouse or warehouse will even be open.

i would recommend.

start = pickles/sliders and chug a few natty bos, maybe get a brat or wait till you get to the firehouse for a pit beef sandwich.

then = do the raven walk to the warehouse and get some more beers in you.

then = walk a few blocks to the firehouse to get one or 2 final drinks, eat pit beef sandwich, smoke a stoogie.

finally = walk with 1 or 2 beers to stadium, chug your beer right in front of the security guards and then slam dunk that empty can into the trash can and yell something like "now lets kick some ass!!! raaaawwww!!"

--------------------------------------

i really look forward to checking out the new casino horseshoe pregame as well. its an awesome casino, you get like $20 worth of free slots and a $5 scratch off just for signing up to their free rewards card. you cant just take the preloaded $20 card and try to cash it in. you have to play the $20 but any money you win, you can cash out (obviously).

restaurants are really good from cheap to mid to expensive.

ballers and shot callers - use the $45 valet parking at horseshoe and i read on the ravens message board that you are in and out but at $45, god bless your success.

------------------

just bar hop in fed hill and walk to stadium

---------------------

bar hop in fells and take the water taxi to inner harbor and walk to stadium

The Ravens front is formidable and our starting OL against the Lions starting DL was outmatched and thus the 1st unit offense couldn't get anything going outside of 1 Alfred Morris run.

From PFF:
Granted, left tackle Trent Williams didn’t play, but Washington still had four of its five projected starters on the field for RG III’s time...Rookie first-round pick Brandon Scherff is supposed to help — he played right guard on Thursday night — but he struggled, surrendering a sack on a bull rush on the team’s first passing play. He finished the game with a -3.0 grade.

--Ezekiel Ansah (+1.5) only played eight snaps, but he left his mark on the Washington offense registering a hit, a hurry and a defensive stop in spite of his limited playing time.

Scherff is a rookie but we're expecting a lot from him and moving from RT to RG should allow him to maximize his talent. Against the Lions the team started Willie Smith starting at LT and it was a mistake. The guy had only started 1 game at OT the previous season. That is less then both Morgan Moses and Tom Compton imo either would have been better option. But thankfully Trent Williams returns to the line-up.

At some point I believe the evaluation approach playcalling with the 1st unit offense has to become preparation playcalling. I watch far more preseason football then I care to admit, and from that I see there several different approaches. The Eagles for example run their regular offense. Some teams gameplan a more then others, especially for rookie QBs. Our 1st unit offense has yet to call a screen, a read-option and iirc only 1 or 2 bootlegs. They have been base personnel under center run on almost every 1st down. There have been a few play-action passes. But primarily we've been drop back passing from under center and from shotgun.

Jay himself pointed out:

"So far with Robert, unfortunately, as play callers we’ve done a poor job of getting our team into a rhythm. We haven’t got a first down and then followed up with a nice bootleg or something like that. We’ve just been first down, second down, third down, punt, it seems like it was against Detroit. It’s very necessary for us to try to get our offense moving positively a little bit to get us in a rhythm, we just haven’t been able to do that. Defense, give them a lot of credit. Detroit played great defense, pass rush. They stopped the run, made it very difficult on us. They were No. 2 ranked in the league last year for a reason. But we do have to compete a lot better than that with our ones."

“We just have to make sure we do our best to put Robert in a good place, with play calls and and getting things going offensively,”

The first unit offense had a LOT of issues to overcome from a personnel stand point. 3rd string LT and virtually no TE. Compton played most of the snaps at TE with the first unit and of course that was mistake because its an obviously tell to the defense 'run'.

Having Jordan Reed back is also going to be huge.

To sum up: with Trent and Reed back I expect to see better playcalling and better production from the 1st unit offense.

Trent and Jordan playing? I better not hear any effing excuses. Baltimore has not looked good so far this preseason...I better see multiple scoring drives and not just 3 points

Oh Jay is just as responsible as RG3...But because of good ole' Dan Snyder his hands are tied.

If it was up to Jay, Cousins would be the starting QB.
