Something to think about.

It's getting hard to find things to talk/argue about, saw this thought i'd post it didn't know where to put it.

The Om Field

What do you think dear we even dream it & given our training camp injury history, wouldn't it be nice if the OL was solid.

Re: Something to think about.

Sure it would. Basically we have made some decent upgrades if T. Williams and Artis Hicks can hold it down. If not, we'll be looking at the same situation as last year. I think if anything, Hicks will be an upgrade over Heyer no matter what and Williams SHOULD be better than whatever we had in place of Samuels last year. I think the scheme is going to make the biggest difference, but basically I think our OL goes from a rating of about a 2 or 3 out of ten to maybe a 4.5-5. That being said, I'll take any improvement we can get...

I still think we need a starting RT who is better than Hicks.

There's definitely been talk of this. I think that basically Shanahan wants to see what our guys can do and honestly he hasn't had long to evaluate our talent. If we don't overhaul it much this year I'd say we probably will next.

Re: Something to think about.

Strange things can happen. Great players can come out of the most unexpected places.
Who would have thought back in 1981-82 that undrafted LT Jacoby would end up beating out 1st round pick #20 over all pick Mark May and end up being a better pro. May ended up switching to OG in order to make the starting lineup.
I think too much is made of the pedigree, height or speed of a player.
We drafted Malcom Kelly and Devin Thomas because they are 6' 3" and 220 pounds, but 5' 10" and 170 pound DeSean Jackson has blown them out of the water.
I just like that we finally spent multiple picks on OL this year....amd I like the TE we got as well. He looks like a bruiser.
We will have some rough times in 2010 on the field, but our FO and coaching staff is finally a professional group.
We will be fine. Snyder needs to be patient.

I've seen a lot of Joe Jacoby and Mark May, and S. Heyer is neither!

Well it can't get worse than last year. Something tells me the OL will be much improved under the Shanahans.

Re: Something to think about.

Barring any substantial injury the o/line as currently constituted should do just fine. The only thing they're missing are the reps necessary to make them a cohesive unit.

Any line we assemble will always be compared to the "Hogs", fair or unfair, that's the way it is. We do have a head start on the process, it's not an instant development.

I am really just curious how you spell fair right, and unfair wrong in the same sentence.

Re: Something to think about.

Good QB play will make an average OL look great. I am not a big McNabb fan, but he is an upgrade over Campbell and will make faster decsions, and get the ball out quicker. I have also always loved Shannahan's QB play action bootleg, which you know we will see a lot of this year. That always buys a mobile QB more time, and while McNabb's feet are not what they use to be, he is still mobile enough to get extra time with that play and throw something on the run.

It also all works together.. if McNabb is successful early, his line will be better for him than if he is standing back there getting killed all day.

It's only June... let's wait and see if Hicks is any good before we make a move

Re: Something to think about.

What? nothing to talk about? Let me show you how this works.....

#1- Thomas and Kelly suck, they have had 2 yrs and haven't done diddly. So don't expect anything new this yr.

#2- We need T.O. He's the best.

#3- McNabb won't make a difference behind the bad OL.

#4- Colt is the best QB on the team.

#5- Rogers is going to have a ton of interceptions this yr.

#6- We need Westbrook badly.

#7- AH is lazy and takes plays off. No wonder he's not here now cause he would be taking too many breaks.

#8- I wish we kept Cerrato.

It's called hooked on phonics. He decided to simply cover all his bases. So he used both in case one was wrong.
