RIP, Tony! Gandolfini was pretty versatile... he was hilarious in "In The Loop."

God this is so sad. Great actor. Seemed like a good ole Italian guy. (Hated the paparazzi though) shocking death. There's always one or two every year. This is that one. RIP.

Tragic. One of the best actors of the past two decades. Sadly, he did little to nothing to take care of his body over the years

Agreed- I last saw him in Killing Them Softly (great flick, btw). He was in bad shape, but I wasn't sure if it was for the role.

Re: So long, Tony Soprano

He was just way too young to die. I heard it today and couldn't believe it.

I only really know him from the Sopranos, but I am aware of his other roles and how versatile an actor he was.

Everything I've heard about him says that he was the nicest and most gentle man, very loving and caring to everyone he met.

I saw where Larry King mentioned visiting him 2 weeks ago and he was jovial and full of life.

It is a shame Hollywood has lost a lot of good actors over the past year or so. I know Gandolfini was overweight, but I wonder if some underlying, undiagnosed health problem was to blame, I mean obviously so if he had a massive heart attack, but usually people just don't drop over dead like that.

RIP

Mad Men, Breaking Bad, bow the f*ck down and kiss the ring.

Those shows and others should be sending royalty checks to Gandolfini and the entire Soprano cast.

Re: So long, Tony Soprano

I really need to watch The Sopranos again. I watched the first 2 seasons pretty religiously, but then I got away from it in the last couple seasons and only caught episodes here and there.

Re: So long, Tony Soprano

It's become en vogue to tout other shows like The Wire, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad but The Sopranos was the show that started it all. It was the best of them really.

Re: So long, Tony Soprano

The first episode I ever saw of The Sopranos was the one where he takes Meadow on a college tour, and to this day it's still probably the best episode of any TV show I've ever seen

Re: So long, Tony Soprano

The Sopranos is just that cult classic TV show that gets mentioned with some of the other greats. People always put it, The Simpsons, Seinfeld in that class of universally popular shows (I got tired of the Simpsons after a while, and especially after Family Guy came out).

I can go almost anywhere in the world and I can find people who have heard of or watched the Sopranos. I can't say the same for Breaking Bad, Arrested Development, Futurama, The Wire, and other shows of similar popularity.

And just the character himself of Tony Soprano is up there with Homer Simpson, Jerry Seinfeld, Gilligan, Spock from Star Trek to name a few of some of the most famous TV characters of all time.

Re: So long, Tony Soprano

Cult show? Hardly. It had widespread mainstream exposure and won Emmys.
