Going to go on a limb and say this bird isn't voting Romney.

What, with Bert and Ernie living right down the street? Not likely...

Re: Official 2012 Election Day Thread

I participated in the republican primaries (though im not a republican) this year, but today at 29 years young i participated in my first election. I dont want to say what presidential, congressional or senatorial candidates i voted for but here are a couple observations from my neck of the woods:

There has been a HUGE turnout in Central VA. Everyone at work has waited 20mins - 1.5 hours to vote and said this was one of the biggest turnouts they have ever seen. Fortunately I went at 2:30 and had a 30 second wait. Besides the time I also live in the city so that may be part of it. In terms of political landscape Richmond City makes Northern VA look like Texas.

My next door neighbor pulled into the parking lot at the exact same time as me. I saw him earlier today when we waved at each other as we were getting our trash cans around 8am. So if I had to pinpoint it, I would say 8am is also the time when he started drinking heavily. The guy REEKED of hard liquor. After voting he complained that he wasn’t given the option to vote for president. I initially tried to support him when he complained to officials but after he insisted there were only 2 people running for president I had to split. I thought it was pretty funny and he made a decent scene. Nice guy though. As a side note he was rockin his Redskins jacket (second one I saw there).

Interestingly, we have a guy running for City Council in our district named Johnny Walker, although I don’t know if my neighbor was able to vote for him or not. Maybe ill buy him a bottle if Walker wins?

I never thought I could be swayed right before an election but after talking to a campaigner in the parking lot I changed my decision for school board vote. I was going to vote for Vanessa Womack Easter but now im a Kristen Larson guy.

When you selected who you want to vote for the name was highlighted red and a red X is placed next to the name. I had to ask if this was correct. I think a green highlight and a green “check” sign would have been a better visual cue.

It seems wayyyyy too simple for voter fraud to happen. Way too easy. Definitely needs some changes.

For the first time in my life, i voted the straight "Democratic" ticket as a registered Republican. Just my way of responding to the obstructionist tactics we've witnessed during this administration at the hands of the G.O.P.

So your fine with what Harry Ried just said if Romney is elected.

Five days before the election, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has ruled out trying to work with Mitt Romney should he win next week.
“Mitt Romney’s fantasy that Senate Democrats will work with him to pass his ‘severely conservative’ agenda is laughable,” Mr. Reid said in a statement on Friday, trying to puncture Mr. Romney’s closing election argument that he’ll be able to deliver on the bipartisanship President Obama promised in 2008 but has struggled to live up to

It's pretty hard to work with people whose sole objective the last 4 years has been to make Obama a one term president. Not only did the GOP vocalize this desire but they acted on it by taking the filibuster to another level. Furthermore, these same people have been damning Obama for not being able to work with them during the entire election when in fact it is they who are unwilling to compromise. It is unfathomable to me how these same people now expect anything less from the Harry Ried and et al.

Politicking is one thing and statesmanship is another. People disagree all the time but the actions of the GOP over the last 4 years can described as nothing short of malicious intent to harm, wound, and cripple not only Obama but this country's ability to function and for some reason Republic voters seem to think this is OK and gridlock is exactly what this country needs....disgraceful.

So I am deep in the heart of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Maryland, Baltimore City oblast. As I am standing in line, the election judge tallying voting receipts starts laughing and says "First Republican on that machine all day." The other at the table laughs and says "Oh, just throw it away... they shouldn't get a vote anyway."

She was clearly joking or I would have made a big stink. As it was, I simply announced "Yes we do.". She apologized profusely and assured me they would never do such a thing.

God bless America.

I can't blame him after what the GOP has done these past 4 years. I'm sure you didn't read this the last time I posted, but here you go.

Is GOP trying to sabotage economy to hurt Obama? - Yahoo! News

Also, a excerpt fromAltman's book "Sabotage: How the Republican Party Crippled America's Economic Recovery". It was a good read, I should pick up his book.

Daniel Altman: Excerpt: Sabotage: How the Republican Party Crippled America's Economic Recovery

**** the GOP. THey've gone out of their way these past 4 years to spite anything the President has wanted, and has selfishly hurt our economy all for the sake of politics. So now you want the Dems to play nice if Romney gets elected?...lol Uhhhh ...no.

I am sure it goes on to some degree by both sides. I strongly support harsh penalties for people caught doing it.
