A question of style: Evan, Roy or Tim?

Between Roy Helu, Tim Hightower and Evan Royster we have 3 RBs capable of 100 yard production.

What do you think of each RBs style and which do you like the best?

Re: A question of style: Evan, Roy or Tim?

It's been so long since I've gotten a chance to see each back, that I've honestly forgotten what the differences are between the three. All I know is that both Helu and Royster were very effective with their running styles, and I'm not quite sure there is necessarily a best style, yet each one compliments the other. I think Hightower, if healthy, can still be a quite productive back, but I think he's going to do well to work himself back into the lineup.

I like Royster the best. I was impressed with his 5.0 plus yard per carry average. He seems to run harder and quicker than the other two running backs do.

Re: A question of style: Evan, Roy or Tim?

If healthy Hightower is probably still the best all-around back i.e. consistency, blocking, catching passes. Helu is the most talented of the three though, and if he/they can unlock just half his remaining potential he'll easily be the best. Helu's elusiveness and power are already superior. If his "vision" improves he'll be a dominant runner. If he also improves blocking and catching Helu is a franchise back.

Royster is a very good change-of-pace/style RB and we should expect his ypc to remain higher than his peers, but it would be a mistake to try making him our go to guy.

I mostly expect Helu to improve noticeably over last season. One thing we know about him from college is dedication to study, train and improve. Like I said better vision of running lanes is the key for Helu to get to the next level.

Helu is speed

Royster isn't anything special, but gets the job done.

Hightower is tough, and a great blocker.

In todays NFL you need speed. Helu is the best of the bunch.

Helu has explosive speed and IMO he is a star in the making.
Royster has great vision, size and quick feet so no hate here.
Hightower has a lot left in the tank and can eat up yards at any given carry.
I really love this 3 headed monster that we have in the backfield on top of 2 beasts for fullbacks.

Re: A question of style: Evan, Roy or Tim?

TH- better all around RB if healthy... (can block, catch, runs hard, great blocker, great on field leadership.)
Helu- fastest RB of the 3, elusive, can catch, and a playmaker
Royster- Downhill runner, breaks tackles, arguably the most durable of the 3

WK 1, against the Saints, I'd want to see Hightower start, and I think he should (if his knee is healthy) simply for his pass blocking; Besides his blocking, he does alot of things well, making him the more complete (not talented) RB of the 3.

Helu, Royster, and Hightower

The jab, the cross, and the uppercut.

Helu = jab- quick, effective
Royster = cross- mixture of speed and power
Hightower = uppercut- bruising, powerful, and the finisher

I like Helu the best by the way

Never ever draft a shanahan running back in fantasy. Even if you're forced to have one of these guys as a backup starter, you wont need to draft any of them high. Hightower might be drafted late, and Helu will only be drafted by Redskin fans. I want to be in a league where someone drafts Royster.

Word of advice, stay away from players on teams you personally route for.

Re: A question of style: Evan, Roy or Tim?

I like whoever is fitting in best with our blocking schemes and RG3. I tend to want more speed on the field with RG3 theoretically. So Helu is prob my favorite...but I'd also like our QB not to get killed so Hightower is probably our best bet in terms of blocking. Can we bring back Portis just to block for RG3?

I really liked what we saw from Royster. He's not a big play guy but he consistently grinded out nice chunks of yards. Helu needs to stay healthy. I think all 3 guys can play significant roles.

Re: A question of style: Evan, Roy or Tim?

I need to see Helu and Hightower take a full season of pounding. Much as I like both of them, I think each may end up being less than a full game, 3 down back. Royster is solid and gets the yards available and maybe one or two more occassionally. Not exciting but keeps the chains moving - that's an important skill in a RB.

If Helu can keep healthy and improves his vision - he strikes me as the playmaker of the bunch and so should be the 1st option with TH as a 3rd down/first off the bench guy. Royster comes in after Helu, RGIII and Garcon have built a 28 point half time lead to pound the opponents into submission.
