Re: OKC extreme weather

It's been a LONG couple weeks here guys. I was underground for a few hours but it seemed like days.. My car was pretty damaged but thankfully that is it, A woman and child were sucked out of their car and were Killed. Just terrible stuff for this state lately. I did see STL got hit but IDK how bad it was. Thanks for checking on me buddy.

Isn't the storm season just beginning for the mid-west? Not sure how much more these people are going to be able to take at this rate.

That's crazy Matt ! thanks lotus, it's been a shitty spring. And NC, hopefully June isn't as bad, historically it's not But we'll see. I was underground with about 15 ppl plus pets and some were complete strangers.

That's one great thing about living here, everyone understanding the severity of these storms so we usually just let anyone in that could fit down there. On a bright side, it's June and training camp starts next month!

Actually tornado season is just about over and all these storms came later in the season. Its the cold and warm air meeting that cause these storms.

Not about over, it peaks in May... June is the 3rd most active month. Doesn't really wind down until July.

El Reno tornado, at 2.6 miles across, was widest on record - U.S. News

Record setting tornado. Hard to believe a tornado with the base of 2.6 miles wide.

It was truly a rare event. The cell not only broke records, but turned out to be an EF5 tornado with a neighboring tornado spun anticyclonically (opposite direction).

I think what ended up happening was two supercells merged, which caused the tornado to switch direction so fast, and coupled with city traffic (leaving no exit routes) doomed those caught in it's path.

Very sad because Tim Samaras was a pioneer in tornado and lightning research.
