Giants are favored by 6.
It's Griffin's 1st NFC East division game.
Both teams have scored 178 points, and the Giants have given up only 114 to our 173.
Eli has 11 TD's to 5 ints, Griffin has thrown for 5 TDs and run for 6 TDs, and has 2 Ints and 1 lost fumble (5 fumbles 4 others recovered).

Thoughts?

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

We may be able to stand up to the Gints against the run. But we really need a way to slow down Eli/Cruz/etc. I don't know how that will happen.

I'm excited for this game, last year they overlooked us and we swept them, this years game is different obviously and it's for first place. I just Dont know how we'll slow that passing attack down???
I think we will have to control the clock but also look for the big plays still. Hopefully PG can play.

Looks like the Giants are weak against the run.

This should be fun.

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

Giants pass defense has been very decent this year, but their rush defense numbers are deceiving. They give up a high ypc compare to their overall ypg...teams are throwing more to keep up with there offense. Like us right?...nope, not close. Our ypc avg vs our ypg is more inline with whats expected of a good rush defense. Our YPC is under 4 yards which is great. So, Im like a broken record every week, run the ball. It can be demoralizing for a defense to get run over in front of a home crowd.

I think the Giants secondary can be vulnurable to the big play, so we should be able to take more deep shots.

I think from a defense perspective, we have to survive. Its not gonna be an easy game to defend. I think the most important thing we need to do is be super aggressive with Eli and the pass rush. He is the definition of rhythm quarterback. We need to not let him sit back there and throw. The Giants coaching is outstanding, I expect the Giants O gameplan to be great.

Only fumble I remember him losing was the Bengals triple option play.

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

I just watched the 2nd WasRedskins-NYGiants game last night from a year ago. In that meeting the Redskins defense was able to swallow up Eli Manning and limit Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks in the passing game. The Giants didn't score a touchdown until the last minute of the game.

Kyle Shanahan called a great offensive game. Except for the 2 INTs by Rex Grossman, the Redskins offense was very efficient. Grossman also threw a TD to Santana Moss in the end zone for a TD.

With Rg3 and a few extra new additions, the Redskins offense is improved. The NYG defense will have to respect the running of RG3 and Alfred Morris. With that said, look for a lot of play action in this game. Expect RG3 to get Fred Davis and Josh Morgan involved in the passing game.

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

The Giants tend to score a lot of points in the 4th quarter, we tend to give up a lot of points in the 4th. If we build a lead, we need to control the clock on offense and keep Eli and Co. on the sidelines.

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

I took the fumble numbers from Espn stat lines,

Quote:
Robert Griffin III {edited}
Passing Stats
SEASON FUM
2012 2
Rushing Stats
SEASON FUM LST
2012 3 1
maybe I mis-read the stats. It did seem odd, but I remember RgIII and Morris having some collision issues early on.

If this game doesn't come down to the last 4 minutes I will be shocked.

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

from what i have seen of NYG they ARE vulnerable to the deep ball... i think we should run a shot gun pump fake bubble screen hand off the first play... see where that goes.. 2nd play should be a gun play action quick slant... see how that goes.. i'll assume a 3rd and one .... i'd call a boot leg with a leaking fred davis and back side option of morris, morgan on a quick 5 yd in and santana burning down the seam... hope he gets open if not pick up the first either with RG3 legs or one of his 3 options... try and get it right and score on the first drive!
