BBC News - S Korea child 'starves as parents raise virtual baby'

I understand that people can stay online alot. BUT, um real baby vs online baby? Crazy.

Online babies are the way to go, when you're done with them you just turn off your comp. No crying, no sleepless nights = money.

Tell me about it spent the entire night sleeping on my son's floor he was scared or something last night and would not stop screaming for the life of me. One of those moments where you are like why did I have a kid?

But then this morning getting him ready for Daycare he looked at me with his two monkeys in hand and asked bou bou or choo choo (his names for them). I said bou bou and said no! choo choo school. So off to daycare went choo choo with him, made me laugh. Little moments like that make it totally worth it.

I know what your talking about I put our 3yr old daught to bed at 8 pm and she made me read her another book. At 8:15 she was down for the night until she woke up at 8:00 am this morning. To make matters worse we go through this every night.

Do you just get used to the lack of sleep as a parent? How long until you can get back to a semi-normal sleep pattern?

What are you talking about? The kid nearly sleeps 12 hours at night. Do you want her to sleep until noon?

Sounds like a good deal to me too

Maybe this is FD being sarcastic, it's tough to tell sometimes

Depends entirely on the kid. My kids were great and we got to full nights pretty much w/in 6 - 9 mos. My sister's kids, not so much. My wife has a friend who's kid (6 years old) still has night terrors on a fairly regular basis.

Like so many other things as a parent - You just adjust.

Depends on the child and honestly your wife's ability to fight off the crying. If you allow them to cry it out it teaches them how to put themselves back to sleep when they wake up in the middle of the night. As a dad you have a better ability at ignoring the crying, woman not so much. In the first six months you basically have to rock them or do whatever to get them to stop crying then after six months you can employ the let them cry it out stage but some folks start the day they bring them home, we just could not do that.

My son for the two years of his life so far has been a pretty poor sleeper. First he had lots of ear problems as an infant which gave him horrible ear infections. Second IMO my wife caves in to quickly with him and he knows it, so he calls mommy mommy over and over. She ends up going in his room and rocking him or worst taking him downstairs and watches TV with him.

For the most part now he is a good sleeper and if he is not sick he generally sleeps through the night but he is up every morning at 6 or 630, got love that on a Sat and Sun.

I have a Family Circus cartoon on my fridge that shows the dad rocking the baby late at night and there is a bubble over his had that says "I will get my revenge when you are a teenager". LOL!

And no you really never get use too the lack of sleep, every time I put my head down it is Russian Roulette as to weather or not I will be able to sleep through the night. This is the best way to describe that feeling. Imagine you are going to bed and your bedroom floor is tile, next to your bed is a guy holding a big glass serving platter over his head as you are drifting off you wonder if he is going to throw it down and wake you up.

Re: 3 month old dies while parents noursish online baby

We were really lucky, with both of my daughters (3 years and 8 months) they both started sleeping thru the night when they turned 3 months. They started going 8pm to 7:30 am every night.

That's huge. There's actually some time to ourselves in the evening.

Now my 3 year old is entering the nightmare phase. Kids at that age have such an active imagination that dreams are really crazy and vivid. She wakes up every night at about 11pm with a nightmare, last night it was that "monkeys doggies and buggies" were chasing her. But after that she goes back to sleep.

I'm pretty fortunate. Results not typical.

If my kid takes after me when it comes to sleeping we'll be golden. If it takes after the wife, not so much.

I think girls are generally better sleepers then boys.

Amen. My kids go to bed at 8, my wife goes to bed at 9, and at that point the PS3 goes on. There's always me time if you want to sacrifice sleep!
