Williams handles his first test

Good breakdown by LA.

washingtonpost.com

How can you not be impressed by TW? And hey, where's the guy that blasted him when we drafted him??

Easily an 'A' for a first outing.

Yes, good quick review by Lavar. Williams played better than expected IMO. Sure Ware beat him for a sack, but Ware would usually catch Samuels off guard at least once a game, sack or not.

If the guy continues to work on his game he should be awesome. The pass pro was the best we've seen in a long time, we just couldn't stop that interior blitz late in the game. Dallas has a great D though, have to be happy w/Williams' debut.

Loved that downfield block he had early in the game on McNabb's scramble. Drove the guy right out of bounds, reminded me of that scene in the The Blind Side.

Yes. Very impressed by TW. Also liked his post game where he was criticizing himself for three plays. (Q: How did you feel about your performance out there? A: Good except for three plays where Ware got me.) You know what, I'll take limiting yourself to three bad plays against Ware in your first freaking professional game. Especially when its you out there alone. Huge to have someone like that. Hope he carries on the tradition of Jacoby, Lachey, Samuels. 20 years of solid LT's.

And yes, the "I'm gonna block you into the stands" block was amazing.

Think about it, two drafts in a row - Orakpo and now Williams - it looks like we really hit with a couple of studs.

Re: Williams handles his first test

yup, trent looked great in his first game, against demarcus ware no less.

i really like how lavar easily explained the help scheme for trent but i didnt see too much help for trent on passing plays, i think lavar said on every passing play he had TE or RB help?

not to nit pic but wasnt trents block into the stands on a cooley screen/quick pass play? or did silverback have 2 downfield demolitions?

how is okung looking? i know he had a lil contract dispute, was injured for a bit. i know vinny said during the draft he would have taken a tackle, i cant remember if he said he would take okung or LT.

I liked how he went over and gave Ware a pat after his neck injury showed a lot of class IMO.

^ Definitely...seems like a great guy all around, on and off the field.

Ware got him turned towards the sideline a couple of times, opening up an inside move...but Silverback had an impressive debut.

Re: Williams handles his first test

Yeah. My previous post indicated that I thought Silverback (love that nickname) was on his own out there. When I was watching, it looked that he was taking on Ware 1v1.

It is interesting how Arrington says the scheme was protecting him by forcing Ware to line up outside. Also, maybe the RB or TE help was for chipping or zone help inside if Ware slipped off TW. Not sure. Like I said, seemed like Williams was on Ware solo a lot.

Williams didn't get any help from what I saw. He did a real nice job. The kid is a baller.

I tried to watch that matchup all game and Ware was mano a mano with TW almost exclusively. I was sorely impressed.
Perhaps he can be the cornerstone to building........HOGS2

Silverback is money. We now have an excellent young LT.

I retract everything bad I said about him.
