First, I'd like to thank all the men and women who have served this great nation. Thank You for all you have done.

We are heading down to Nags Head for a few days then coming home Monday morning for the traditional pool opening at our club. I made our daughter take swimming leason over the winter and she is really excited to show off her new swimming skills.

Well done, FD.

I echo the thanks. My father is an Army vet who served in combat, as were other generations in my family.

Thank you to any of you who served.

Stay safe everyone, the drunks get stupid this weekend annually.

Re: So What's Everyone Doing For Memorial Day & A Thank You

I'll echo those thanks as well, my little brother will be getting deployed in early July and it's made me a lot more conscious and thankful of the effort given by service members nationwide to protect us. Much thanks to anyone here who has served, or any of their family members too.

Definitely be safe too, holidays also serve as an opportunity for people to act even more stupid than normal.

As far as my plans go, I have a three day weekend but no ideas yet. I'm probably just going to see what my friends are up to and go from there.

You're welcome.

Having all the kids over Sunday for a barbecue.
Other than that I'll be doing yard work and wasting as much time as possible playing EVE and World of tanks.

Re: So What's Everyone Doing For Memorial Day & A Thank You

Remember, the Memorial Day holiday is in place to remember those who died while in combat while serving you and I. Veterans' Day is the day to celebrate, thank, and congratulate all veterans who are still with us.

That said, we cannot thank our veterans enough.

I'm headed to Annapolis to get disgustingly wasted...and eat a crab or two.

I'll be memorializing our troops by moving house. Sweating, bleeding and suffering.

Having some friends over tonight to celebrate the wife's b-day. The rest of the weekend looks like chillin' on the deck soaking up some sun. Didn't get the boat in in time for this weekend, so I'll be watching everyone else tear up the lake.

You see pics like this of men waiting to storm the beach on D Day and wonder how many never made it home. Its amzaing how many actually had a smile on their face. I'd be changing my underwear.

Re: So What's Everyone Doing For Memorial Day & A Thank You

Got up early today and went for a great, long run, then I'm heading to a cook out with some good friends from college in a bit. Honestly I think that makes for a pretty good day.

Right now I'm watching "Taking Chance," a made-for-HBO movie starring Kevin Bacon about an officer escorting a KIA Marine home for his funeral. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it for Memorial Day, but definitely have the tissues ready. I'm not ashamed to admit I tear up every time I see it.

Re: So What's Everyone Doing For Memorial Day & A Thank You

Was off the last few days, got in a few great workouts, and the whole BBQ and beer thing tonight with the wife and my mom and stepdad. At home now in a food/beer coma watching Heat-Celtics. Not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Re: So What's Everyone Doing For Memorial Day & A Thank You

Well my weekend started off drinking too much beer on the beach and getting sun burned. Actually all of us got sun burned by using old sunscreen (yes sunscreen does go bad). Came home and had friends over last night for a cook out and too much beer (actually vodka & tonics). I have a stack of work that I need to do but I have no energy.

Re: So What's Everyone Doing For Memorial Day & A Thank You

Wow it was hot yesterday. My thermostat showed the outside temp at 98 degrees in the afternoon.

It's a miracle I'm not burnt, I was out most of the day shirtless, no protection.

We don't have a pool but we have a hot tub/spa that we use for one in the summer...that's what I spent a few hours doing....cleaning it out and re-filling with cool water and new chemicals for the summer use. My family of 4 fits in it comfortably, it's nice to have...cool to use at night with the blue lights under the water and jets...we just can't swim laps.

Then, last evening, the washing machine stopped working. Yaay. The joys of home ownership.
