Redskins, Samuels Agree

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...-2005Mar1.html

Quote:
....The Washington Redskins reached agreement today with left tackle Chris Samuels on a contract extension, sources said, providing the team with more flexibility under the salary cap to pursue free agents.

But, with the NFL free agency period beginning at midnight, a last-ditch effort to revive a trade that would send disgruntled wide receiver Laveranues Coles to the New York Jets appears to have been abandoned, increasing the chances that Coles would remain with the team next season. ....

I hope they get a CB and a WR and that's it. Maybe a DE. Just keep/replace Smoot. Replace Coles and Gardner. Maybe a add a pass rusher and then just chill. Don't shake up the whole team again.

Hey this is GOOD news for a change............... :headbange
In addition to DE and WR I think the team also needs a Center and a guard ......protecting Ramsey, a true pocket passer, and making holes for Portis is a PRIORITY otherwise our offense won't improve, although a healthy Jansen should make the line better..............

Even though I'm pissed at Coles right now. I would love to see him stay, make some plays and then apologize for being such a douche.

I agree that our offensive line is our weakest link. Add a good center and guard wold have a hugh inpact on our running and passing game.

Re: Redskins, Samuels Agree

Problem with picking up a good defensive end is these guys want MONEY. Money which we've already secured in our defense with LaVar, Griffen, Washington, and soon (hopefully) Taylor, Smoot, and Pierce. I don't know how many more expensive pieces we can add to our collection! There's a time in a teams life (that time is when they finish top 5 in nearly every defensive category) to leave the defense alone and draft/trade for what ails ya!

Re: Redskins, Samuels Agree

Coles is our "Star" receiver and he only wants to look like a star!! You see Randy Moss, Terrell Owens etc. making huge touchdown catches. Coles only had one TD catch last season, and very few long catches at all. I think with Coach feeling more comfortable this season with Ramsey, he'll air it out more. Coles just wants more attention and more TD's. If he gets that he won't be so disgruntled!! I mean, come on, lead the team in catches with 90 but only one TD!!!

I dont know if anyone here watches Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but in the words of Carl. "Freakin Awesome!"

This kicks ass now we should get OUR free agents signed. Forget about everyone else's until we get Smoot and Pierce locked up.

Washington Times said the talks between N.Y. and the Skins are alive again. I personally would like to see L.C. stay.

Re: Redskins, Samuels Agree

This is excellent news! I figure this was the #1 priority for the skins this offseason. This makes the cap much easier to manage, and it gives us flexibility in dealing with WRs, CBs, etc. If you don't fix Samuels' contract, everything else is a mess, not to mention you suddenly need a left tackle, one of the hardest and most expnesive sort of players to find.

Pierce is next, I bet. Then Smoot, hopefully, though there's a lot of FA corners out there. But why not one we know and like???? Then a WR, pick up a draft pick for RG, and let's trade down in the draft, and build a god damn dynasty!!!
