Thats freaking rediculous. I mean, I think people who listen to the show know what they are getting, thats so stupid. Its not like a family friendly show and hes saying this stuff, I can understand being upset at S.B, but this is freaking rediculous

Yes, we all know that parents don't let their children listen to him, but violating the FCC indecency rules, gives the ground to take him off the air. They have to do this because it is the rules. Personally, if I didn't like his type of broadcasting I would just stay away from it, but I guess he went a little too far. Rules are rules.

But what are the rules?? Nobody seems to know when it comes to the FCC until they determine something to be offensive after the fact. I was listening to the show on Tues and it was certainly nothing out of the ordinary for Stern.

If it's nothing out of the ordinary (and I'm sure it wasn't) then it probably was some listener who heard it and complained. It sounded like it was offensive to women, and whoever complained probably complained to the FCC.

TITLE 47--TELECOMMUNICATION

CHAPTER I--FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION

PART 1--PRACTICE AND PROCEDURE--Table of Contents

Subpart A--General Rules of Practice and Procedure

Sec. 1.24 Censure, suspension, or disbarment of attorneys.

(a) The Commission may censure, suspend, or disbar any person who
has practiced, is practicing or holding himself out as entitled to
practice before it if it finds that such person:
(1) Does not possess the qualifications required by Sec. 1.23;
(2) Has failed to conform to standards of ethical conduct required
of practitioners at the bar of any court of which he is a member;
(3) Is lacking in character or professional integrity; and/or
(4) Displays toward the Commission or any of its hearing officers
conduct which, if displayed toward any court of the United States or any
of its Territories or the District of Columbia, would be cause for
censure, suspension, or disbarment.

Everything is getting so out of control since our dear little Janet pulled her stupid ass stunt. From what we've heard out Arizona way, NYPD Blue will be uncut on the east coast since it comes on at 10 PM. Out here it comes on at 9PM so they've already said it will be censored out here. That's absolutely ridiculous. We've been seeing it uncut for what, about 9 years. Janet does her little thing and now everything is suddenly pornorgraphic????? Give me a break. If you don't like what they're showing, change the channel!!!!!!!!

That's basically how the country has been run since the days of John Marshall.

Actually, the FCC was executing a plan to crack down on offensive material before the SB half time show. Jackson's incident just hastened their actions.

Hurray for crazy fanatical religious groups! They lead the charge against this type of content. For the most part, you know what you're getting into when you listen to Stern, Don and Mike, etc. No reason for the FCC to shut it down, there's a reason why these two shows have huge user bases. People find it entertaining! I'm not a big fan of either, but I think the 1st amendment gives them more than their right to say what they do!

I dont even think its religious groups. Its just parents who are wayy too freaking uptight and worry about their kids listening to this crap. Now, while if i had a kid, I wouldnt wanting thme listing to howard stern till they are like 13-14, I understand that its very easy to change the channell on a show that you know is giong to be like that.

Sure as hell wasn't formed on repressing the FREE SPEECH! These guys don't say anything that bad, sometimes I listen to them if someone at work is listening to it. I don't see why the FCC gets their panties in a wad over this.

As far as religious groups founding this nations. Yes, you had to be Christian, or at least believe in Jesus Christ, but depending on the location this meant very little in the overall scheme of things. Mainly in the South, where Churches were spread out and very rare religion wasn't near as big (required) like up North.

There are things such as seperation of church and state to keep religious groups from becoming as powerful as they were in England. That's why we keep tabs on religions, we don't want them running our country like they ran England into the ground. Too late, the process has started.

Actually I've read that it was clear channel that pulled the plug on Stern, not the FCC.

Kinda scary considering how the media is slowly but surely becoming tightly controlled by just a few companies.
