Brandon Meriweather Found Guilty of Reckless Driving (DWI Case)
Suspended 6 month jail sentence, and a fine.
Not sure what the league's response will be

So suspended jail sentence does mean he's not going to jail..?

2-4 game suspension is my guess.
Correct. Unless he breaks stipulations in his judgement or probation.(if he's given it)

re: Brandon Meriweather Found Guilty of Reckless Driving (DWI Case)
Sorry I should clarify he was found guilty of reckless driving, not DWI
I'll update the thread title

Our secondary is disappearing!
No Merriweather for a few games. No Minnifield at all. Jackson and Williams better show up big time.

Re: Brandon Meriweather Found Guilty of Reckless Driving (DWI Case)
Meriweather needs more reck in his driving. Then he won't be reckless.

It doesn't matter who we're losing, we're thin at both talent and bodies in the secondary. If this continues, we're going to actually need Reed Doughty to play.

Re: Brandon Meriweather Found Guilty of Reckless Driving (DWI Case)
I'm just going to call it now. Next offseason we're going to be looking at this secondary and say "WTF was the front office thinking?"
Not that it matters to much. At this point it's all about getting better not making a Super Bowl run. Still I think we'll look back at this unit as a disaster not all to different from the Cowboys woes last season. Then again if they get a Steelers like pass rush going they'll be able to cover up the problems in the defensive backfield.

Re: Brandon Meriweather Found Guilty of Reckless Driving (DWI Case)
Would be absolutely shocked if he is suspended. He didn't plead to a DWI; he plead to reckless driving. Correct me if I'm wrong, but players don't get suspended for speeding/passing other vehicles improperly.

Fletcher, Orakpo, Kerrigan, Carricker, Cofield, Jenkins, Bowen, Golston, Alexander, Riley Robinson, Wilson, heck even Hall on CB blitzes...we're going to be in the backfield all day long. I think our pass rush will help this pathetic secondary a lot. Forget about deep balls, the QB won't have time to wait for his receivers to get downfield. We WILL give up a lot of big plays but it's not going to be as bad as we think. I think we'll see a tough D that shuts down opponents 95% of the time, with that other 5% being big, busted, long TDs given up by this secondary. Forget the old band-but-not-break D...it's doing to be, "Hope we don't break too many times".

Re: Brandon Meriweather Found Guilty of Reckless Driving (DWI Case)
I guess the response to my argument would be that Big Ben was suspended for conduct that did not result in charges, but then again he was a repeat offender (or rather, had been accused of the same conduct more than once). Bottom line Brandon - don't do it again and don't otherwise be an idiot.

Re: Brandon Meriweather Found Guilty of Reckless Driving (DWI Case)
While Meriweather is on suspension, Cedric Griffin and Madieu Williams will play wonderfully in his place.
