Zorn presser: Defends Suisham

http://dcprosportsreport.com/2009/12/07/zorn-press-conference-defending-the-indefensible.html

Quote:
Here are the highlights of Jim Zorn’s Monday press conference at Redskins Park.
DT Albert Haynesworth is injured again, but no word on playing this Sunday.
FB Mike Sellers has a thigh bruise with bleeding. Sellers is questionable for Sunday’s game after being released from the hospital. Seems like an injury rather similar to what Jason Taylor had last year, but not as severe.

Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham

Zorn is a clueless idiot. He isn't even involved in personell decisions anymore. So him defending Suisham is on par with every other decision he has made.

Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham

Zorn on PK Shaun Suisham’s botched field goal: “Decent snap, excellent hold, it was a poor kick.”

I don't see that as defending Suisham.

I defended Suisham after the Dallas game -- we didn't lose that one because of him. But after yesterday, get his ass outta here.

Even if he DID defend Suisham, he has no choice. I'd much rather have a coach that defends him than hangs him out to dry. The coach shouldn't be deflecting blame to players. Good leaders take responsibility for a loss and give credit to others for a win, it's part of the job.

Agreed, Zorn showed class by not throwing his kicker under the bus. I was mortified earlier this year by Jim Mora Jr. when he placed his teams defeat solely on his kicker.

Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham

Zorn is a stand up guy, his character has never been under question, his ability as a coach is what should be examined

Yeah, but 23 yards!?!?!?!

He should be thrown under the team bus and backed over a few times.

Here is the defense:

He listed the other mistakes the team made [fumbles, interception, pass coverage] as evidence that the loss cannot simply be blamed on Shaun Suisham.

Agreed. Nothing more than an extra point. Suisham has now blown two consecutive games on make-able, extremely make-able field goals for a NFL kicker, 39 and 23.

Only thing is, at 3-9, whats the point in doing anything now?

That is absolutely defending Suisham and I am not sure how you muster up trust.

Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham

I don't see the defense of Suisham ("poor kick"), especially since Gano is visiting this week, if PFT is to be believed.
