Greg Blache needs to be held accountable for defensive scheme and play!!

I questioned whether the defense would take a step back after Greg Williams left. The first year not so much. Blache stuck with most of the schemes Greg Williams used and our defense played decent. Greg used to rush the CBs and the safeties. It seems like he is doing less of that this year. We go with older lineman over more talented youth. Our Dbs play 10 yards off the ball. We only rush 4 D lineman. We put Orakpo at LB where is he a liability in coverage instead of using him on the D line.

We aren't good at tackling. Our secondary scheme sucks and we get no pressure on the QB so it makes the job even harder for the secondary. Has Blache not realized that "The Orakpo Experiment" is not working. You only hear his name during the game when he lines up as a rushers. I just feel like Blache is stubborn and has moved away from the Greg Williams scheme because he has become full of himself.

Someone commented and said that Greg Blache said that sacks are overrated. That tells of him being so full of himself that he thinks his schemes are better than common sense when it comes to football. At one point in the first half the Lions were 9-11 on 3rd down conversions. We can stop the run. We can't stop the pass. We have our issues on offense. But our D has underachieved by a long shot.

If your players are having problems tackling you make them work on it. If what you are doing is not working adapt and try something else. You can't keep doing the same things and expect different results. We go out and sign AH, draft Orakpo and pay D Hall all this money and our defense gets worse. Go figure!!

Good point for discussion, though I would add the offensive coaches to be held accountable too. Gtripp will love this thread. LOL.

Why is Greg Blache here to begin with?

Why isn't another head coach in here with his own staff members? Perhaps because no level headed coaches will even dare take the Skins job under the current management structure.

Blache, Zorn, Campbell, Offense, Defense, it all comes down to the orgin points of how they are all there.

Points to one person if you ask me.

There goes the whole "let's blame only ONE person" attitude.

See ya Greg.
You know...what explanation could you offer for their play if you are GB....ehr
don't have the talent? Don't have the experience?
People (as the thread says) on this team playes/coaches/FO need to be held accountable...and that is NOT happening

While this game was not very good for the D the fact that our O cannot score over 20 points game after game is the real problem.

I totally agree. But the difference is Zorn is in his second year as a head coach. Blache has been coaching in this league for years and should know better. He has no excuse at all. I just feel at times when I see him in press conferences that he is full of himself and very stubborn. How do you give him more defensive toys and the D plays worse. Why wont he realize that his experiment with Orakpo has failed?

They are both a problem, what's wrong with saying that.

Turns out we still have yet to find that one guy who can score...while on the sideline.

Or on the field for that matter.

You can effect all those other positions through that one person.

Better than toiling away trying to put your finger on what position we can improve. We just got toasted by the lions. Sure as shit ain't one position that's hurting us right now.

Keep changing positions one at a time and see where that gets you. See you at Spurrier 2.0.

I totally agree. I think we have ripped Zorn to shreds on here. But Blache needs to get ripped just as much. Add to that Blache was giving Stafford so much praise during the week. You would think his D would be prepared. ON top of that Stafford didn't look that special. Their running back almost had 100 yards in the first half. He would have ran on us more if he didn't get hurt. Add to that they were dominating in time of possession. So things might have been worse if not for that injury.

I want to change my quote to this..

"Sacks are overrated" - Greg Blache, Defensive Coordinator
