Re: Potential trades
Our remaining picks are a little lite:
Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 (from PHI) Round 5 (from NOLA) Round 7 Round 7 (from PHI) Round 7 (from PHI) He is under contract for 2 years at a pretty high amount, but with all our cap space, that won't be an issue at all. And he will be CB1 in every game he plays for us, for at least the rest of this season (depending on the draft). He is only 28, so this is a solid risk for a team that all the sudden looks like it can win now.

Re: Potential trades
Not a huge fan of this deal, but I trust Peters completely.
The biggest thing, as mentioned by others, is the trickle-down effect of BSJ moving to CB2, and most importantly, Sanristil back in the slot where he belongs.

Re: Potential trades
It seems a bit of a risk as he hasnt played a whole season a few years, but based on muliple suitors, Washington wasnt alone in interest. It seems hes mainly a man corner, which implies more blitzing opportunities. So I can see how that part works. Im sure we paid a touch more but thankfully we had that dot
son pick on hand. I dont think this happens if we didnt. So swapping wr 4 for CB 1 plus a couple mid rounders makes sense, even if there is an injury risk. I dont expect they would extend him due to that concern, who knows. Even if he is an average cb, hes still a big upgrade. I just dont know who will be cb 2?

Re: Potential trades
Lattimore for the equivalent of 2 mid round picks I can live with. Like to thin they have at least one more deal they're trying to make for an edge rusher maybe.

Re: Potential trades
I cant see any more trades, too thin on draft capital, plus we are ok now.

Re: Potential trades
Just think of the vets we have now on defense. And our offense is doing great without a ton of age

Commanders checked in on D.J. Reed
The Commanders have made their deadline splash by landing former Saints corner Marshon Lattimore. Before they did, however, they did look around the league to address that need. As The Athletic notes, Washington checked in with the New York Jets to see if corner D.J. Reed was available but was told he was not. Teams gauging price on Giants rusher Azeez Ojulari Teams are checking in with the New York Giants to see what it would take to land Azeez Ojulari in a trade, according to The Athletic. The report notes that the team is looking for a high fifth-round pick or late fourth-rounder as compensation. Ojulari is slated to be a free agent this offseason. player headshot Tyler Sullivan |

Re: Potential trades
Grant Paulsen
@granthpaulsen I'm told the Commanders are trading their third round pick, which is currently 21 picks lower than the third they got from the Eagles. Pick 72 - came for Dotson Pick 93 - original 3rd Big difference. My add - That Eagles pick originally came from the Dolphins. So we all need to be rooting against Miami the rest of the season. Don't have a 4th, so want that 3rd to be as high as possible.

Re: Potential trades
Marshon Lattimore info:
6'0" 192 lbs ; 28 years old 1st rounder Ohio St 2017 AP defensive rookie of the year 4 time pro bowler 15 passes picked in 97 career games We HAD to upgrade our secondary this year, especially corners if we're truly going to compete this year. Lattimore is the best move to do this. Like the move a lot. |

Re: Potential trades
Looks like with all the Wide receivers Pittsburgh is signing, we might need to trade for Newsome too.

Re: Potential trades
Lattimore seems like he is probably hitting the downside of his career. He's missed a lot of games the last few years. I was listening to Grant and Danny and they mentioned that out of the last 60 games he's missed 20, so by my count that's 1/3 of the games played the last few years, plus he makes a ton of money.
On the flip side he fills an obvious need for the next couple of years and is easily the best corner we have. In Peters we trust and all great GM's at some point take risks. Every move he's made has been pretty damn good. Plus Lattimore has to be happy as hell getting out of New Orleans. This is what the top teams do, try and upgrade mid season. Hard to think it but we are now that type of team. |
