If you say "franchise altering" I imagine the type of QB would be an established, franchise QB. Is that right?
Well, "franchise altering" in that he probably wouldn't be a cheap acquisition.

Clausen? Meh.... I want to say could it be worse than Beck, but then realized it probably could be.
Ha! Someone else is also now suggesting Tannehill? As for RGIII I was certain in October he was staying, then around Thanksgiving I heard otherwise. It just keeps going back and forth with him. I really have no idea anymore if he's staying or not.

I don't think anyone could be worse than Beck

I think I said the guy I'm talking about is young (not Young, just young) so I don't believe Manning fits that mold

I'm still trying to figure which idiot franchise would get rid of their franchise QB?? Did Vinny get hired on as GM somewhere? They most likely have tons of faith in their backup or whoever they plan to draft to replace that person.

I would give Clausen a try, I've suggested this in the past, also Brady Quinn. They can't be worse than Beck and have shown some flashes, I think with the right coaching they could be better like Alex Smith.

I'm curious what will happen with Quinn. He had a good summer and seems to have maybe restored his reputation a bit.

Cutler or Freeman would be my guess...my wishful thinking guess would be Rivers, Id give multiple 1sts for him. I would only think Norv would have to go in order for that to happen. I really hope its not Sanchise or Fitzpatrick

I'll just go ahead and tell you guys since it seems to be a false rumor anyway. Well not a false rumor but one that's not such a big deal, plus it's the holidays. One of the guys I was talking about was Jimmy Clausen.

I dropped the clue right in here http://www.thewarpath.net/869792-post110.html

Anyway, it was more of a "Clausen might be available this offseason for cheap, maybe even for nothing. He could be a good choice to bring in"

But from doing a bit more gathering, it seems like that would be more of a due diligence "how can you not at least consider the option, especially if it costs us nothing" move

But I'll keep the other name quiet a little longer. It would be potentially be a franchise altering move.
Who called that?!? I did..

I'll say it again, I would take Sanchez in a heartbeat, with the right coaching he could turn out to be what has been expected all along.

Theres no way I want to break the bank for an existing QB with a few years on him.
I'd rather start fresh on the draft.

If you are referencing the Manning rumor, I just want to point out that the insider said if this was on condition of the following:

1) Indy cut Peyton and he become a FA
2) RGIII and Barkley didn't declare

Not sure you would be breaking the bank on Manning as a Free Agent really, and give him just enough contract years to groom a QB you choose to draft during that time. I would be fine with this scenario as long as it didn't mean us giving draft picks.

Now not sure about the rumor Smoot is talking about in regards to "franchise altering", but he did mention that the QB was young so I would gather he had more than just a "few" years left.

Re: Matt Barkley Stays (QB Draft Prospect Thread-Episode IV)

I would doubt PM would have any interest in dressing out in the B&G.....
He has 13 Swiss and offshore accounts and his body clock is ticking. Perhaps a team a little closer to a legit SB run......

I think the perfect team for Peyton would be the 49ers. They have all the pieces in place for a contender for years except the QB position.

It reminds me of the situation with the Vikings a few years back when they were stacked and being held back by Tavaris Jackson. Insert Brett Farve and they go to the NFC Championship game.

I think the perfect team for Manning is Washington. As long as he can put himself on the field.

Re: Matt Barkley Stays (QB Draft Prospect Thread-Episode IV)

I just can't believe the Colts will let Peyton play somewhere else if he's healthy. I don't think that will happen. Nice thought, but can't see it. You might say 28 million is a lot of money, but think about the money Manning generates in revenue, wins.

If St Louis lands in the 1 spot, I'm not sure they would trade Bradford immediately anyway.
