I gotta say...I am proud of our country. I def didn't vote for Obama but I am proud we elected a black man with a muslim sounding name. The shear step forward that shows from only a diversity standpoint is immense to me. Bravo to America. We don't suck quite as bad as some may have thought.

I've been told I'm a pretty good public speaker but man what I wouldn't give to have the oratory skills of Obama and command the stage the way he does. I don't know that I've ever heard a better public speaker. It is just amazing

Just curious, any word from the Clintons tonight?

Dude is a baller. He's second fiddle only to Abraham Lincoln, Martin L. King, and John F. Kennedy.

The thing that I liked the most about the speech was when he said the words "I promise."

It's hard to not get swept up in every word he says.

Clear lack of class, I would even go to say intellect, from the McCain-Palin supporters during McCain's speech. Really sad actually.

Well, I think there were a few early on who were vocal in their disappointment (to be expected), but under the guidance of McCain the jeers turned into cheers.

Bitterness is a bitch.

But who cares about the supporters. McCain was classy, and at the end of the day, that's what counts.

Great night. Very impressive from President Elect Obama (wow). And very gracious from John McCain--nice to see the old John again. I think that was a better representation of the man then his campaign.

Very historic. Loved the part in Obama's speech about the 106 year old voter from Georgia. Amazing.

re: Election Day Thread 2008

The McCain supporters were a big reason I didn't switch my vote last minute. It seemed like too many of his rural supporters had no reasoning whatsoever to vote for him but were more adamant than anyone that I shouldn't vote for obama. Racial based ignorance was seeming to run rampant in culpeper. Bad day for the trailer parks across the nation.

Re: Election Day Thread 2008

One of the big stories of this election was the voter turnout, very good to see people getting out there and voting

The Associated Press: Voter turnout best in generations, maybe a century
