Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread

We'll see about the wr's. A ways to go. I think we're going to see these young guys push for playing time. Gruden basically said that Doc can't get away from Db's but can jump. WTF? Then why is he at the top of the depth chart you dummy???? The only reason I can think of is they need to keep his value high cause of a trade.

Keenum sucks. Denver moved on from him for Flacco... lol. Colt has been in a cast, comes in at camp and is basically named the starter? Hoffman said that Colt has been getting the ball out faster, processes things faster blah blah. You can bet Colt will be under center against the Eagles. No surprise cause Gruden loves him like a son. He is the best we got right now. It is what it is I guess.

Haskins isn't even in play to start which is really disappointing. I just don't understand why they can't narrow down the playbook, take the majority of plays he ran in college and go with that stuff. Has he been so bad that he's going to end up 3rd on the depth chart behind two journeymen?? SMH....

Dwayne def seems disappointed in the lack of reps he is getting, he says "I'm just hoping to get a good amount of plays in Thursday since I'm getting few throughout the day"

As a former HS QB and now I coach HS Qbs, I always tell these young guys what my coaches told me "If you want more playing time, show us when your name is called"

He only had 14 starts in college, just for that I would not expect him to be ready to start day one as a rookie. Also the O-line is a mess right now. I am glad they aren't going to throw him to the wolves. The Redskins haven't had a franchise QB in over 30 years. No reason to rush the kid and ruin him physically or mentally.

That is a lame excuse honestly, Kyler Murray only had one year of starts, and yeah you can say Colt and Case are better than the backups that Arizona had but lets be real here, they could have given Haskins more reps out there. I get that he is a rookie and all, but I find it kind of funny that that is always the reason that we hear.

Murray is a mobile QB and played in a similar system in college. Mobility makes it easier for a rookie QB to start. This was why RG3 was so successful as a rookie. Question is, can they transition to being a QB that can also throw consistently from the pocket. Some can, some can't. Murray is still a question mark, but his mobility and his familiarity with the offense is a big reason he's expected to be able to start early.

Murray is a great pocket passer, I believe he'll be a good pro

If they want to say that Dwayne isn't ready that's all well and good, but I hate the "He only played one year" as the only excuse. Dwayne Haskins threw for 50 TDs in a conference that actually plays defense. The Big 12 doesn't. They are both question marks, but I just don't like the "handicap" thrown on Haskins or any other QB like that.

Exactly. I don't get splitting up the reps between 3 guys. That to me is just ridiculous. If Gruden feels most comfortable with Colt then fine, split the reps between Colt and Haskins. And if Haskins isn't playing a bunch in the pre season then Gruden can go fuck off somewhere.

For the life of me I don't get the Keenum trade, even with Colt coming off injury and not knowing how the draft was going to unfold. I wouldn't have pulled the trigger on that. Like Schneed has in his signature, if you don't know who the best QB of the three you have are, you don't have a QB. I would have been splitting reps between Colt and Haskins 50% a piece, and had some 3rd stringer on the team too, but I wouldn't have traded for Keenum just to have him taking 33% of the first team reps.

Personally I really could give a damn about his starts. He's in the NFL now. And the o-line really isn't an excuse cause the QB's are not getting hit right now. He should be getting half of the 1st team reps.

To be fair, our D-Line on paper is probably one of the better ones in the league when healthy.

Need to seriously chill on Haskins. Everyone knew coming in he was going to be a bit of a project having only played one year in college.
